In an interview posted on Yahoo News about hearing loss being linked to dementia, Dr. Rebecca Younk, Audiologist at Beltone Eau Claire, said staying aware of your hearing can be key to staying on top of things:

“When you start noticing your hearing going…. When you have to ask people what they said if they went into another room, or if you find you can’t hear as well with a lot of background noise… just go and get your hearing checked. Stay aware if things become harder to hear.”

Did you know that tinnitus (ringing in the ears) is the number one disability among veterans, and as of the 2020 fiscal year, nearly 2.3 million veterans are getting support from the VA for tinnitus? There is constant research to see how we as hearing care professionals can help people who are experiencing tinnitus, and hearing loss in general.

Did you know that the US Food and Drug Administration recently finalized regulations for a new category of hearing aids called – Over the Counter (OTC) hearing aids? These devices are meant for individuals over the age of 18 with mild to moderate hearing loss. Individuals with hearing loss will have a choice between OTC hearing aids to be fit at home without professional assistance or prescription hearing aids professionally fit by Audiologists and other Hearing Care Professionals.
