Clifford James Amick Jr.

Age 65, of Rice Lake, WI, formerly of Bruce, WI, died Saturday, January 4, 2025 in Rice Lake.

He was born on July 6, 1959 in Menomonie, WI to Clifford and Darda (Flora) Amick Sr.

He is survived by his children, Nathaniel and Sophia; his mother, Darda Flora; siblings, Joseph Amick, Sandra Ekstrom-Schultz, Jonathon Amick, Patty Amick, Peggy Amick, Susan Amick, Carson Amick and Marcia Berry; many nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his father, Clifford Amick Sr and a brother, William Amick.

Graveside Services will be held at 2PM Tuesday, January 14, 2025 at the Irvine Creek Cemetery in Menomonie, WI. Appleyard’s Home for Funerals in Rice Lake, WI is assisting and serving the family with the arrangements.

Dorothy Lucille Willson

Age 93, of Rice Lake, WI, died Saturday, December 28, 2024 in Rice Lake.

Dorothy was born on July 22, 1931 in Canton, MN to Lyle and Helen (Richardson) Farnsworth. After graduating from high school as valedictorian she was married to Gordon Willson on August 23, 1950 at St. Agnes Church near Canton, MN. They lived in Decorah, Iowa until 1955 when they moved to Appleton, WI. They were active in the church there and she kept books for Gordon's construction business. They moved to Rice Lake in 1970 where they started Shadow Plastics.

She was active in New Comers Club, St. Joseph's Altar Society, and volunteered in the church rectory, and Lakeview Medical Center Auxiliary. Dorothy enjoyed bowling, playing cards, reading and singing. She loved being with her family most of all.

She is survived by her 6 children, Pete (Mary Pat) Willson, Janet (Byron) Binstock, Mary (Michael) Romportl, Wendy Willson, Trisha (Michael) Willger and Amy (Scott) Samp; 12 grandchildren; 9 step grandchildren; numerous great and step great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Gordon “Gordy” Willson; her parents, Lyle and Helen Farnsworth; a sister, Lola McCabe; and a brother, Cecil Farnsworth.

Private Family Service will be held Friday, January 10, 2025 at Appleyard’s Home for Funerals in Rice Lake, WI, Father Isaiah Schick officiating, with interment in the Northern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Spooner, WI.

Yet another of our residents!!

Sandra Jean Abel, 69, a near life-long Rice Lake resident passed away Friday, October 25, following a yearlong battle with cancer.

Born in 1955 in Davenport, Iowa, Sandra, her mother and three elder siblings settled in Rice Lake in 1957, when her father's work required relocation. She attended Franklin and Brill elementary schools and Rice Lake Middle School and graduated from Rice Lake High School in 1973. She completed a course in marketing at Wisconsin Indianhead Technical Institute, but she was passionately interested in astronomy, archeology, zoology and horticulture, and she was an ardent Anglophile, enamored with all things British. A cat enthusiast, she adopted and cared for many felines throughout her lifetime; the welfare of all God's creatures was of great concern to her, and she contributed to their care and comfort as she was able.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Marian and Fred Abel, an elder sister, Sharon Halvorsen and a younger brother, Bradley Abel; she is survived by an elder brother, Gordon Abel, and two sisters, Constance Abel and Lori Norvitch.

A private family service will be held. Appleyard’s Home for Funerals in Rice Lake, WI is assisting and serving the family with the arrangements.

In lieu of memorial flowers or gifts, contributions to local animal shelters or rescue organizations would be greatly appreciated.

Another of our sweet residents!!

Donna Jean Olson

Age 81, of Rice Lake, WI, died Friday, October 25, 2024 in Rice Lake surrounded by her loving family.

She was born on June 24, 1943 to Milton and Evelyn (Stroman) Spearbeck. Donna graduated from Rice Lake High School in 1961 and then she attended vocational school and received a degree in data processing.

She worked for MDS Atron Company in data processing for many years, and also worked for Wright Products in Rice Lake and retired.

She loved to decorate cakes and also taught ceramics. She was very talented with her craft making and in ceramics.

She is survived by a daughter, Barb Olson (Dale Rheingans); 3 grandchildren, Charles Rheingans, Anthony (Dayna) Olson and Tori (Joshua) Workman; 6 great grandchildren, Gage, Jordyn, Izabella, Parker, Casima and Lincoln; a brother, Dale Spearbeck; sister-in-law, Judi Spearbeck; 2 nieces, Lisa Spearbeck and Charlea Spearbeck. She was preceded in death by her parents, Milton and Evelyn Spearbeck.

Funeral Services will be held at 11AM Friday, November 1, 2024 at Appleyard’s Home for Funerals in Rice Lake, with interment in Nora Cemetery in Rice Lake. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the Funeral Service.

It is with deep sadness and heavy hearts we share the passing of our dear resident, Jo! She was with us for 2 years and formed many relationships with not only other residents, but with staff. We will miss dearly your coffee talks and sassy jokes. Not only was Jo our family and special to us, her daughters became part of the VitaCare family as well.

Christmas is approaching very fast this year yikes and although we were blessed with gift bags for each resident, we are still looking for a few more items to give our residents for gifts!!!
