Project SEARCH - Rice Lake WI

Project SEARCH - Rice Lake WI Hybrid, Transition Program: unique, business-led, 9 month, school-to-work, vocational skills program for students and young adults with disabilities

Interns who successfully complete Project SEARCH see many lifelong benefits:

-Confidence in their abilities to learn job skills and become a self-advocate

-A guided transition from student life to working adult life with lifelong skills

-Opportunities to learn what they want (and realize what they don't want) in a prospective job

-Increased self-esteem, work ethic and relationship-building skills

-A brighter outlook to be a gainfully employed and independent adult

-Receive the tools needed to set goals and turn experiences into resume and job interview assets

Project SEARCH interns have an 88% success rate of procuring gainful employment after their internship is completed. For Project SEARCH to succeed, interns need a passion to improve their vocational skills and a desire to work. Individuals must apply for the program, and have appropriate hygiene, some communication skills and the determination to learn new employability skills.

β€œA mentor can guide you along the journey to your dream job.”

We are so very thankful for our amazing Department Supervisors and Mentors in Paint Prep, Electronics, Shipping & Receiving, Service School/HR/Dept Support, Custodial, Intruder and Safety/Manufacturing. Without their dedication, time, and effort, our interns would not be learning and growing their technical skills and soft skills on-the-job.

Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU!!!

Communication in a factory can be tough with the machine noises. It’s important to speak loudly and clearly and make sure you understand directions from supervisors/mentor.

It’s OK to say β€œI don’t understand” or β€œcan you say that again” or β€œcan you show me what you mean”
