We traveled to the Country Lane Market near Barron earlier this month for a wonderful afternoon of shopping, snacking and visiting! There were so many wonderful things to see, including lots of fresh produce, baked goods, artwork, crafts, jewelry and even perfume—lots of vendors and such great variety. Of course, the highlight of the trip was probably all of the great food available. Our favorites included kettle corn, fry bread, and the homemade ice cream! Thanks to the family members and volunteers who helped our residents get around at the Market. Your assistance was very much appreciated!

Congratulations to Ben, our July 2025 Employee of the Month! “Ben is a very hard-working and dedicated CNA who consistently goes above and beyond to assure the wants and needs of our residents are met. He has an unfailing positive attitude, no matter how busy he is and always has a smile on his face. He is respected and appreciated by everyone on our team and our residents love him,” shared Director of Nursing Vickie Haney.

It's karaoke time! Scott and Laura Dohman, along with some friends, joined us to sing some timeless classics from a wide variety of genres. Lots of residents got into it, especially Ruth, who got to sing her favorite Bon Jovi song with Jeff! Thanks to everyone who stopped by to share a few songs with us.

CNA students at the Healthcare Workforce Training Institute have been so helpful and a joy to be around! From giving us manicures, to joining us for a round of bingo, it has been a blast getting to know this great group of students recently. We had a great day at the Barron County Fair last week! We explored the many exhibits, went through the barns, listened to entertainment at the Fairtime Chapel and of course enjoyed very tasty fair food. Some of our residents "bumped into" family and friends while we were there, too. You just never know who you might see at the fair! A special thank you to the family members, volunteers, and team members who helped us enjoy the day, and thanks to the Barron County Fair team for making us feel so welcome and for continuing to make our annual visit to the fair possible!

Thanks for the Memories, Dove Healthcare - Rice Lake: A Fond Farewell from Pat “When I was hospitalized in Eau Claire in May, I was told I needed therapy before I could return home, and I would have to go to a skilled nursing facility.

I remember thinking, 'I hope I get to a nice one'.

When I was wheeled into Dove Healthcare - Rice Lake on May 28, so many nice people welcomed me. I felt at home right away, and that feeling has stayed with me throughout my stay.

The staff took time to get to know me, and I was treated like I was special. I felt like this was one big happy family, and it has been one that I have been happy to be a part of!

I have made many new friends while here, getting to know staff, residents, and the family members of the residents. I was able to play cards with my new friends every day, as well as participate in many other interesting activities.

The therapy staff was excellent, guiding me in my rehab so I could regain my strength and make a safe return home.

The food here has been wonderful, the facility is kept so neat and clean, and whenever I needed anything, someone was quick to assist me.

Every staff person I encountered was excellent!

And so, as I prepare to return home on July 11, I bid my Dove Healthcare family goodbye, but promise I will return to visit and spend time with my new friends.

Thank you all for making this experience unforgettable in such a wonderful way. May God bless each one of you. If I need help again, you can be sure I will choose Dove Healthcare!” Sincerely, Pat

Recreation Director Nadine (and Laura, recreation director at Dove Healthcare - Bloomer) had the opportunity to meet with Kathy and Cari Overman from Fishing has no boundaries, Inc. These women are very passionate about the work they are doing, which includes providing recreational fishing opportunities for anglers with disabilities regardless of their age, race, gender or disability. In addition to information, they brought adapted fishing rods along and gave us the opportunity to actually work with the equipment. It was exciting to see electric reels, soft touch and button retrieval systems, and so much more.

If you have a passion for angling, there are ways individuals and small businesses can become members of the organization and help support its mission. Thank you, Kathy and Cari, for your time and the great information!

We are excited to announce the HomeGROWN promotion of Emily Gudis to director of operations for Dove Healthcare’s six assisted living locations!

Emily is responsible for overall performance and operations, which includes supervising the assisted living directors and assisted living nurse consultants. Our assisted living locations will benefit greatly from an enhanced, collaborative focus on developing goals, implementing strategy, identifying efficiencies, and leveraging resources

Dove Healthcare has experienced great success over the years with our HomeGROWN approach: recognizing passion, dedication, and capabilities in team members and then supporting them with growth as opportunity arises.

Emily is the perfect fit for this new position having achieved multiple promotions since joining our team almost 10 years ago. She has advanced from resident assistant, lead resident assistant, assistant director, director, multi-location director, and administrator.

As we age, the gradual decline in muscle mass and strength worsens with each passing decade. There are several factors that contribute to the loss of strength over the years with decreased participation in physical activities being one of the factors. "If you don't use it, you lose it."
