International Nurses Day is celebrated around the world every May 12, the anniversary of Florence Nightingale's birth.

Florence Nightingale (1820-1910) was a British nurse, social reformer and statistician best known as the founder of modern nursing. Her efforts to reform healthcare greatly influenced the quality of care in the 19 and 20 centuries.

Skilled nursing care centers and their staff provide a steadfast commitment to providing a high-level of care for their residents. This has never been more evident than the last two years during the pandemic.

This year's National Skilled Nursing Care Week celebrates the essential role that skilled nursing care centers and staff play in Creating and Nurturing Connections for their residents.

Hospitals find innovative ways to support the needs of patients and community; this is especially important during surges of COVID-19. During National Hospital Week and all weeks, we recognize the 5,000 hospitals, health care systems, networks, and others who provide care to their community.

It's Older Americans Month and the theme this year is Age My Way, which serves as an opportunity for people to explore the many ways older adults can remain in and be involved with their communities.

We obviously love this theme because we strive every day to help people age in place!

The theme of this year's Nurses Month is "Nurses Make a Difference," to honor the varying roles of nurses and their positive impact on our lives. Nurses make a difference as trusted advocates who ensure individuals, families, and populations receive quality patient care and services. Nurses make a difference by influencing and shaping health policy decisions that ensure all Americans have access to high-quality, affordable health care coverage.

Comment and tell us about a Nurse that made a difference in your life.

October is National Physical Therapy Month — a time to celebrate the profession and all the ways physical therapists, physical therapist assistants, and PT and PTA students help improve lives across the country.

Inadequate physical activity results in an added $117 billion in health care costs in the U.S. and leads to reduced quality of life for millions of Americans. As we struggle to address a global pandemic, it’s more important than ever to encourage movement to help people manage pain and other chronic conditions, recover from injuries, and reduce the risk of future injury and chronic disease.

❤️ World Heart Day is an opportunity for everyone to stop and consider how best to use heart for humanity, for nature, and for you. Beating cardiovascular disease (CVD) is something that matters to every beating heart.

Use Heart means to think differently. To make the right decisions. To act with courage. To help others. To engage with this important cause. The heart is the only organ you can hear and feel. It is the first and last sign of life. It is one of the few things with the potential to unite all of us as people.

Pain is one of the most complex symptoms to treat. Sufferers aren't always able to pinpoint exactly where they hurt, making the diagnosis and treatment tricky. For elders living with chronic pain and their caregivers, managing pain sometimes seems like a hit or miss proposition, and it may take several types of treatments and even several different doctors before finding true relief.

Today's focus for National Health Center Week celebrates patients and community board members who keep health centers accountable and abreast of community needs.

By law, Community Health Center boards must be comprised of at least 51% community members. Community board members are individuals who live in the community served by the health center, are patients, and represent others who are served by the health center in terms of demographics such as race, ethnicity, and gender. The model works because it ensures that patients represent the needs and voice of the community.

National Health Center Week is an annual celebration with the goal of raising awareness about the mission and accomplishments of America’s health centers over the past five decades.

This National Health Center Week honors those front line providers, staff, and beloved patients who lost their lives during the (ongoing) COVID-19 pandemic. From the very beginning of the crisis, Community Health Centers began finding innovative ways to provide preventative and primary care to their patients.
