Lights Out 🌑🌑🌑
Tonight, millions of people around the world will switch off their lights for Earth Hour (8:30-9:30 p.m. your local time).
But what happens when we go beyond just one hour?
Reducing unnecessary light at night doesn’t just save energy. It restores habitats for wildlife, improves our sleep, and reveals a star filled sky that’s often missing.
The image shows the Bortle Scale, which ranks the night from skyglow to true darkness.
Every light we turn off helps move us one step closer to a darker sky.
Turn off your lights, step outside, and join the movemet to protect the night. Visit darksky.org to learn more.
