Celebrating 100 Incredible Years with Iona Knight!

100 years young – June 26th, 2025

We had the absolute pleasure of sitting down with Iona Knight this week as she prepares to celebrate her 100th birthday — and what a joy she is! Sharp as a tack, positive, and filled with energy, Iona’s warmth and wisdom made this visit unforgettable.

While she’s lived through a century of changes, memories of life’s simple pleasures have remained. As a child, she loved to walk barefoot behind her father’s horse-drawn plow and feel the cool soil beneath her bare feet. It’s a memory that still makes her smile.

When asked about a favorite place she’s visited, it was tough to choose — she and her husband traveled extensively. But Amnicon Falls in Wisconsin, near Superior, holds a special place in her heart as one of the most peaceful spots she’s ever known.

As for favorite treats, some things don’t change: ice cream was a childhood favorite and still tops the list today. She’s also a fan of a good Butterfinger candy bar when the mood strikes.

Iona’s advice for younger generations is both simple and wise: "Leave the drugs alone. Just don't start." And the same, she says, holds true for alcohol and ci******es.

When it comes to life’s little preferences, here’s what we learned:
☕ Coffee over tea
🎶 Singing over dancing
🌅 Sunrise over sunset
☀️ Summer over winter
🐄 Cows over horses

To celebrate this remarkable milestone, Iona will gather with family for a special dinner of Chinese Chicken and Coconut Shrimp. A few days later the family will be having a photo taken — a fitting tribute to a life well-lived and deeply loved.

Please join all of us at Pine Valley Community Village in wishing Iona a very happy 100th birthday! Drop her a note, a smile, or a memory if you have one — let’s shower her with the joy she brings to those around her every day.
