You've been killing it at the gym and your nutrition has been on point. You are super excited to get in the BodPod and see your amazing results because you've lost inches and your clothes are fitting better.

But the number you get doesn't reflect the work you put it. Maybe it only budged a percentage point.

This is extremely common. Remember, your body fat percentage is a percentage of the whole (think back to middle school math for this). If the "whole" changed (your total body weight), the percentage could stay the same depending on the type of weight you lost or gained.

Even if you lost fat, but maintained muscle, your body fat number might not change dramatically. If you lost fat and gained muscle, your percentage might not change dramatically because the total body weight number increased. Your body fat percentage is the percentage of your total weight that is fat.

There are a lot of reasons that you may not see the number you are hoping for and none of them are a reflection on how hard you are working or how consistent you are being with your workouts and nutrition!

A client learned how to use data from their BodPod session to improve the data their fitness tech gives them (Your tech guesses, unless you give it actual data. The more data you can give it, the more accurate the read-out from your tech).

One client made informed adjustments to their nutrition strategy based on the results they have seen and with their overall goal. We sat together and worked through a client-led plan.

A client confirmed the strategy that we set in his previous session was working and we made adjustments for the next 6 weeks.

One client discovered that under-eating is not a good strategy for meeting goals and that nourishing her body resulted in the changes she has been trying to see for years.

How can you improve what you don't measure?

Are you looking to lose body fat? How will you know if you have improved if you didn't measure it?

Weight loss isn't the same as fat loss. And clothes can "fit better" without losing body fat.

In fact, that would mean you are happy because the scale went down, but you actually lost muscle mass.
