Kadlec’s Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) and Pediatric Manager, Anna Wroble, recently spoke with Apple Valley News about a concerning rise in counterfeit car seats. Four fake seats were brought in over just the past two weeks.

It is important to keep your little one safe. Dan Hanson, Apple Valley News reporter, shares how to spot a fake car seat, where to purchase one safely and common counterfeit models. Read his full story below to learn more.

Safe Kids Benton-Franklin hosts a free car seat clinic every fourth Saturday of the month from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Kadlec Regional Medical Center parking garage.

It is the 7th year of the Holiday Toy Drive!

At 15-years-old, Jasmine was diagnosed with Ewing Sarcoma bone cancer. After going into remission, Jasmine had the idea of starting the toy drive to help the children and families fighting similar battles.

We are so grateful for Jasmine’s heart not just for the pediatric patients at Kadlec, but for those staying at children’s hospitals throughout Washington, Oregon, Idaho and Alaska.

As Jasmine shared, “Every toy collected, every smile shared, every moment spent delivering gifts — it all reminds me why I started. This will always be more than a toy drive to me. It’s a piece of my heart, and seeing it continue to grow fills me with so much gratitude.”

These toys do truly brighten the holiday season for our pediatric patients.

Thank you to everyone who was a part of this special day. And a special thank you to Jasmine and her family. ❤️

💙 💛 “I was fortunate to have enjoyed the benefits of the Caregivers Support Group for several years! It helped me with the challenges I faced with the progression of my wife's struggle with Alzheimer's Disease. And later I was able to give some suggestions to help newcomers in their early efforts to care for their loved ones.” 💛 💙 – Support Group participant

Kadlec offers a variety of support groups, including the Caregiver Support Group.

Caregiving can be stressful and isolating. Our Caregiver Support Group offers social support with a community of individuals who are on a similar journey.

Participants can:
• ask questions
• learn skills and tools to be better caregivers
• receive advice or practical solutions to problems
• hear about local resources and support organizations
• practice coping skills and self-care techniques

If you are a family caregiver, we invite you attend our Caregiver Support Group meeting.

Meet Jen Garrison.

Jen is a registered nurse in our Emergency Department.

When sharing what her favorite thing is about working at Kadlec over the last 25 years, she said, “It is being able to show up and give 110% of myself to each and every one of my patients that I encounter. I love being a patient advocate, I love teaching our new nurses, and I genuinely love my job. I strive to always show grace and compassion, and I am thankful for my job in the ER- I feel blessed to work with the most amazing co-workers to serve our community in vulnerable times.”

Please join us in congratulating Jenon 25 years of service! 🎉
