This morning, we found something extraordinary. 🤍
After seven years with us, one of our beloved residents passed away. As we were going through her room, tucked carefully beneath her placemat—under all the drawings and notes from children—was this letter.

It was written by a 10-year-old little girl, the daughter of one of our caregivers.
She wrote about coming to work with her mom. About how she liked being with the older people. About Gull Arbor.

And this resident… she kept it. All this time. Safe. Cherished. Right where she sat each day.

Later, her mom shared how being around our residents shaped her daughter—teaching her respect, kindness, and a deep understanding of aging that most children never get the chance to learn. How this environment didn’t just care for the elderly… it helped raise a compassionate human.

This is why intergenerational care matters.
This is why relationships matter.
This is why what we do here goes far beyond caregiving.

A child’s words brought joy to an elderly woman’s life.
And an elderly woman’s presence helped shape a child’s heart.
Both were changed forever. And so were we. 🤍

Learning looks like conversations across generations, curiosity sparked at the kitchen table, and wisdom passed down with a smile. Snow days may close schools, but they can’t cancel connection.

When you love someone, you make sure you don’t lose them… even if that means a dog leash. 🐾😉
Kiera made it her personal mission to keep Don right by her side, and he was more than happy to follow along. The connection between children and our residents brings so much laughter, purpose, and love into our home. It’s a reminder that joy flows both ways, no matter your age. 💛
