Introducing our new OAW Vice President Amy Sabella-Malone! 🤩🤓

Amy has been in the eyecare industry for 20 years and is a proud graduate and former instructor of Seattle Central School of Opticianry. She is deeply invested in giving back, having led several international vision care initiatives over the past decade and currently serving as the optical director for the Seattle King-County Clinic. In her current role as an account executive at CooperVision, Amy enjoys helping her accounts offer the best products to their patients and assisting them in making myopia management a standard of care.

Howdy all! 🤓
I'm Amanda. I have the honor of being your new OAW President. I am also the woman behind the curtain of our page (Social Media Chair).
I've been an LDO since 2013 and have a Bachelor of Science with a double major in Biology and Wildlife Management through the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point.
My first stint in All-things-Optics started in 2006 when I worked at a Walmart Vision Center in Wisconsin (non-licensed state). I moved to Washington in 2009 and started my apprenticeship here (yay!).
In my former life, I worked as a Field Biologist mainly with birds (Spotted Owls, Sage Grouse, Caspian terns, and more) -hence the BS Degree in Biology. I also spent 2 years teaching English as a Second Language in Taipei, Taiwan. -Just for funzies.
I currently live near Bellingham with my supportive husband, Mike, and our indifferent cat, Alvin.
Please reach out if you have questions or suggestions on what we can do to help support opticianry in our state or if you would like to be more involved in our mission to support opticians. We have a lot of events we are working on for this coming year, but we need help! oawboard@gmail.com
