Baldwin Funeral Home As local business owners, we strive to bring excellent personal service to our families. Our chapel seats 250 people. for over nine generations.

We have a dedicated professional staff to help our families through one of the most emotionally trying times of their lives. Baldwin Funeral Home, newly built and opened for business in October 2009, is a 20,000 square foot brick building, with covered parking around the perimeter of the building. A large foyer welcomes family and friends from the covered portico. The entire funeral home is richly

decorated with antique oak furniture and accented with oak woodwork. The funeral home features two full viewing rooms and a large casket selection room with a full selection of caskets, vaults and urns. The family meeting room has a full kitchen area set up so families may bring in snacks or a small meal to eat prior to or after the service if needed. There is a microwave, stove, refrigerator and tables. Also for the young children who may be visiting, we have available children's chairs and books to entertain them while your family visits. There are two large men's and women's bathrooms, with multiple stalls for convenience. The Chapel has a maximum seating capacity of 250 people, with a state of the arts sound system. The Chapel features antique oak pews, pulpit, floor stands, tables and buffet. A covered family parking area allows families rainproof parking. An attendant is “on premises" at all times when a deceased is in the care of the funeral home. The funeral home has a 2009 Lincoln hearse and six door limousine to take loved ones from the home, church and cemetery. The Baldwin and Halliday families have lived in Stewart County, Ga. The McGlaun family has lived in Webster and Chattahoochee Counties, Ga. for over seven generations. This history gives the operators of the funeral home a familiar knowledge of the areas. We are locally owned and operated and available 24 hours a day, seven days a week to assist you in your time of need.

Evelyn Hipplehuser, age 80, of Deltona, Florida, passed away peacefully on April 2, 2026, at Fish Memorial Hospital in Orange City, Florida.

Born on February 13, 1946, in Americus, Georgia, Evelyn was the daughter of the late Buren L. Jones and George Evelyn “Polly” Jones. She graduated from Darton College in Albany, Georgia, with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and enjoyed a long and successful career as a dedicated nurse.

Evelyn cherished spending time visiting with family and friends. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and sister who found great joy in her relationships.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles A. Hipplehuser (2005); her brother, Buddy Jones of Lumpkin, Georgia (1984); and her parents.

Evelyn is survived by her son, Christopher S. Bridges; her grandchildren, Devon, Lauren, and Scout; her brother, Thomas B. Jones of Newnan, Georgia; her sisters, Lila Gamble of Dawson, Georgia, and Ann Kelley of Albany, Georgia; and many beloved nephews and nieces.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 30, 2026, at 3:00 p.m. at Weston Baptist Church in Weston, Georgia.

Ellen Wiseman Alston, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and devoted servant of her church and community, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 10, 2026 — Mother’s Day — surrounded by the love of her family. A true Southern lady known for her grace, kindness, steadfast faith, and servant’s heart, Ellen lived a life rich in love, purpose, and devotion to others.

A Church Service will be held on Saturday, May 16, 2026, at 11:00 AM, at Macedonia Baptist Church in Centerpoint, Georgia, with visitation immediately following the service. The Reverend Robert Orr will conduct the service.

In Lieu of Flowers: Donations may be made in Mrs. Ellen's memory to the Georgia Baptist Children's Home, 505 Waterworks Rd., Palmetto, GA 30268.

Born in Stewart County, Georgia, on February 8, 1936, Ellen was the daughter of Clifford and Florence Lee Jones Wiseman. She graduated from Richland High School in 1954 and later attended the Columbus School of Art, where she nurtured her love for creativity and beauty. Following her studies, she worked at Kirven’s Department Store in Columbus, Georgia as a buyer’s assistant, combining her artistic eye with her natural sense for style and elegance.

On March 31, 1957, she married the love of her life, Gordon Baker Alston. Together they built a beautiful life in Webster County, Georgia, rooted in faith, family, hard work, and enduring love. Their marriage was a shining example of devotion and partnership, and they shared a passion for traveling the world together while always remaining deeply connected to their home and community.

Ellen was a faithful member of Macedonia Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday School, served faithfully in the WMU, and held leadership roles including director. Her love for the Lord was evident in the way she lived her life and cared for others.

She was also deeply involved in her community. Ellen was an active member of the Weston Women’s Club, serving over the years as president, treasurer, and in many other capacities. She also served several years on the Webster County Library Board. Alongside her husband, she was the dedicated bookkeeper and steady backbone of the family business, G. B. Alston Farms, until her retirement in 2015.

Above all else, Ellen cherished her family. She was a proud and loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother whose greatest joy came from spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Her warmth, wisdom, and unwavering love created a legacy that will continue for generations.

Ellen also had a spirit for the Georgia Bulldogs. On Saturdays in the fall, she could almost always be found cheering on her favorite team, enjoying the simple traditions she loved.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Clifford and Florence Lee Jones Wiseman; her brothers, Jerry Wiseman and Jimmy Wiseman; and her son-in-law, Alan Adams.

She is survived by her devoted husband of 69 years, Gordon Baker Alston, Sr.; daughter, Leslye Adams Cook (Noel) of Albany; son, Gordon B. Alston, Jr. (Sandy) of Weston; grandchildren, Dr. Kyle Adams (Laine), Thomas Adams (Logan), Dr. Alston “AJ” Adams (Alexis), Kaitlyn Alston Wells (Ben), and Lyndsey Alston Breeden (Alex); and eight treasured great-grandchildren: Alan Adams, Sylvie Adams, Everett Adams, Landon Adams, Baker Adams, Mac Adams, Tucker Adams, and Nellie Breeden.

She is also survived by her brothers, Kenny Wiseman (Susan) of Weston and Clifford “Butch” Wiseman (Mary Sue) of Thompson; sisters-in-law, Earlene Wiseman of Ellaville and Faye Wiseman of Richland; along with many beloved nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.

The Visitation Service will be held on Wednesday, April 29, 2026, from 11:00 – 11:45 am (Georgia time, EST), at the Cottonton Baptist Church in Cottonton, Alabama. The Church Service will begin at 12:00 noon (EST). Burial will be at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, Union, Georgia, at 1:00 PM (EST). The Reverend Robert Rhodes will conduct the service and interment.

Tina Michelle Underwood, 53, of Preston, Georgia, passed away on December 18, 2025, at Phoebe Sumter Hospital in Americus, Georgia. Tina was born on January 16, 1972, in Americus, Georgia to the late Mary Grace Sizemore and Johnny “Bubba” Sizemore, Jr.

Tina is preceded in death by both of her parents; and a sister, Beverly “Boo” Bryant.

She is survived by her loving and devoted husband, Elvis Underwood; her son, Houston Underwood; four grandchildren, McKenzie Underwood, Rylynn Underwood, River Underwood, Ryder Underwood; two sisters, Lisa Sizemore and Amanda Sizemore; one aunt, Diane Meeks; five nieces; two nephews; one great niece; one great nephew; lots of cousins and friends.

Tina was a Christian and loved her family. Tina loved to help people and it showed in her work. She was all about the greater good and her community. For many years she worked as a Community Developer of the West Central Georgia Community Center and later worked as a Director of Family Connections in Webster County. She volunteered for many different organizations. She especially loved playing Secret Santa to families in need at Christmas time.

Tina had a heart of gold and would go out of her way to help someone in need. Her true love was taking care of her grandkids and spending time with family and friends. She was selfless and always put others above herself. Tina was fun and loving. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends and all who knew her.

A Visitation Service will be held Monday, December 22, 2025, from 11:00 to 11:45 am, at Baldwin Funeral Home in Richland, Georgia, with a Chapel Service beginning at 12:00 noon. Burial will be at the Preston City Cemetery in Preston, Georgia. The Reverend Raymond Smith will conduct the service and interment. Special friends and family will serve as pallbearers.

Connie Lee McNiel Smith-Richardson, passed away on October 5, 2025, in Americus, Georgia, at the age of 67. Born on August 25, 1958, in Marshall, Texas, Connie lived a life marked by resilience, warmth, and deep devotion to her family.

Connie was known for her strong spirit and unwavering determination. She was a fighter who stood her ground with grace and conviction. Her strength was matched by a tender heart that found joy in the simple pleasures of life—watching movies, piecing together puzzles, and creating beautiful works through cross stitching. These quiet pastimes reflected her patience and creativity.

Above all else, Connie cherished time spent with her family and her granddog, “Miss Gimp”. Her most treasured moments were those shared with loved ones, especially when surrounded by her great-grandchildren. Her love for them was boundless and evident in every embrace and smile she gave.

She is lovingly remembered by her four siblings: Kenneth McNiel; Bubba McNiel, wife Candie; Shirley Kisor, husband Timmy; and Nancy Clemens, husband John of Young Harris, Georgia. Their bond remained strong throughout the years—a testament to the closeness they shared as a family.

She is also survived by her son, Ron Smith, and daughter, Sandy Smith, two grandchildren, Cheyanne Zipperer, Dakota Cromer; three great grandchildren, Tinsley, Nova and Conway Zipperer; and Ronnie Smith, Sr.

Connie was preceded in death by her beloved grandson Dustin Smith and her parents, Edgar Alonzo McNiel and Frances Stephens Morgan. Their memories remained close to her heart throughout her life.

May Connie’s memory bring comfort to those who knew and loved her. Her legacy of strength, love, and quiet joy will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to share in her life.

A Memorial Gathering will be held on October 8, 2025, from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Preston Baptist Church Annex, 6677 Cass St., Preston, Georgia.
