Instead of attempting to erase history, there should be an official acknowledgement, apology and reparations for those families who are still affected by the perils of slavery and it’s continuing racism from it (redlining, job discrimination, etc).

The remark, made as the president has ordered a wide-ranging review of museum exhibits, added to his pattern of minimizing Black history.

My vacation to Bermuda of course contained some elements of history. Our tour guide told us the history of the island which was fascinating. Tomorrow I’m going to the National Museum of Bermuda to learn more! A genealogist/historian can’t resist a museum…even on vacation.

Happy Father’s Day to my Dad who passed in 2016. He left a strong legacy - my love of history, museums and education. If he were alive today (he would have been 92), he would have tried to keep up with museum visits and helping me research genealogy. He would have continued telling me stories about t🇨🇻 Cape Verdean heritage and we might have visited the island together. Miss you dad

Harriet Tubman, a real person, was many things, suffragist, soldier, nurse, spy, but she is best known as a “conductor” on the Underground Railroad. Over a decade, Tubman would make about 13 trips, leading an estimated 70 people to freedom in the North. She is pretty much the closest example of an actual superhero that we have in American history. Today, she is specifically remembered at two National Parks, Harriet Tubman Underground Railroad National Historical Park in Maryland and Harriet Tubman National Historical Park in New York, but that said, we are pretty sure all 433 National Parks would assure you that she was a real person.
