The month of April also is recognized as National Occupational Therapy (OT) Month. Please join us in thanking the other half of the Clinch Valley OT Team, the COTAs, Kasey Duty, Jessica Whitt, and Kristen Mounts!

"Hi! I’m Kasey Duty, a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant here at Clinch Valley Medical Center. I’ve been in OT for 17 years, and I love helping people get back to doing the things they enjoy every day and gaining their independence. Around here, I work Skilled Rehabilitation and Acute Care and I especially enjoy working with geriatrics. Outside of work, I’m attending Church and spending time with my husband, two sons and family. Favorite part of my job? Watching progress happen one small win at a time and seeing my patients return home and care for themselves."

"Hey! I'm Jessica, a COTA/L here at Clinch Valley Medical Center. I've been in OT for 23 years and I love helping people get back to doing the things they enjoy every day. Around here, I work with mostly the geriatric population and especially enjoy working with patients who have had (CVAs) strokes/ orthopedic injuries and/or surgery. Outside of work, I'm usually with my family, at church, reading and I also love travel/cruising! My favorite part of my job? Watching progress happens one small win at a time and trying to be a help to someone during their recovery."

"Hey everyone! I’m Kristen Mounts, one of the COTA’s at Clinch Valley Medical Center. I have been practicing for 10 months, and no two days ever look the same—which keeps things interesting! I enjoy working with the geriatric population, especially when I get to help patients reach goals that increase their functional mobility to regain the skills needed for everyday activities in addition to becoming as independent and confident as possible. When I’m not at work, you can find me reading, working puzzles, doing embroidery, going to the Barter Theatre, and spending time with my family, friends, and sweet dog, Max. I love being part of a team that helps people get back to what matters most!"

Thank you guys for all the great OT work that empowers people to participate in the everyday activities that brings meaning, purpose, and independence to their lives!

The month of April also is recognized as National Occupational Therapy (OT) Month. Please join us in thanking 1/2 of the Clinch Valley OT Team, Marie Boone & Crystal Keen!

"Hi! My name is Crystal Keen, and I am an Occupational Therapist. I have worked in many settings over the past 30 years, but I currently call Outpatient Therapy at CVMC my home base. I provide pediatric OT services as well as adult treatments, including general hand therapy, stroke rehabilitation, and strengthening and conditioning. I enjoy singing, dancing, and spending time with my family, my two dogs, and friends—whether at home, on the water, or at festivals. Two of my favorite things are traveling (especially looking for brown signs along the way) and treasure hunting at Goodwill and other thrift stores! I am thankful and blessed to be part of a great team at Clinch Valley Health in Richlands, VA!"

"Hey! I am Marie Boone, an Occupational Therapist at Clinch Valley Medical Center. I began my career in the Occupational Therapy field 22 years ago because I wanted a position where I could help people stay independent and keep doing what they love. I spend most of my time working with the acute care and skilled rehabilitation population, and I really enjoy helping people recover and stay as independent as possible. Outside of work I enjoy spending time with my family, singing, and traveling. I think the best part of my job is seeing patients surprise themselves with what they can do! It is a privilege to be part of a team that focuses on getting patient back to what matters most!"

Thank you guys for all the great OT work that empowers people to participate in the everyday activities that brings meaning, purpose, and independence to their lives!

Clinch Valley Health's RN Residency Apprenticeship Program will have the spotlight on our awesome RN Residents, Preceptors and Mentors this week. Today meet Resident Kimberly Nance:

"Hello! My name is Kimberly Nance and I work for CVMC! I have been an RN for almost a year now. I was an LPN for 3 years and a CNA for 5 years as well. I am originally from Giles county but moved in with my boyfriend a few months ago when I started with CVMC. I went into the residency program with some hesitancy, but am so glad of the connections that I was able to make with my preceptors that I was paired with. They worked with me 1:1 to help me feel comfortable working at CVMC. I am beyond grateful of the connections that I have made with these wonderful women and the friendships that were made along the way!"

"Hey! My name is Tanner Wimmer and I graduated from the Bluefield University Nursing program with my BSN. I have worked at Clinch Valley Medical Center for almost 3 years now, working as a Nurse Tech for two years during nursing school. The residency program has helped me grow my confidence, and improve my competence in my profession. The program allows for new grads to be able to start their journey in the field of nursing comfortably, and safely, under the guidance of several preceptors, mentors and coworkers. I have been blessed to be around some of the greatest nurses, and nicest people I have ever met in the ED and throughout the entire hospital!"

Clinch Valley Health's RN Residency Apprenticeship Program will have the spotlight on our awesome RN Residents, Preceptors and Mentors this week. Today meet Resident Chloe Perkins:

“Hi! My name is Chloe Perkins. I finished nursing school in May 2025. Currently, I work as a RN on the Med-Surg unit at the Clinch Valley Medical Center. I recently completed the nurse residency program, which has been an incredibly valuable experience as a new nurse. One of the most meaningful parts was the opportunity to work 1:1 with my preceptor, Cassie, who provided constant guidance, support, and encouragement as I grew into my role. The program helped build my confidence, strengthen my clinical skills, and truly prepare me to care for patients independently. I am grateful for the knowledge and experience I gained and excited to continue growing in my nursing career!”

Over the course of this week, we have been proud to be celebrating National Health Information Professionals (HIP) Week by shining a spotlight on the incredible team in our Health Information Management (HIM) Department here at Clinch Valley Health!

This year’s theme, “Transforming Healthcare with Information,” highlights the ongoing shift toward the effective use of information to support population health, data integrity, advanced analytics, and cybersecurity.

Your expertise, accuracy, and dedication to protecting patient information and ensuring smooth, secure healthcare operations often happen behind the scenes — but your impact is felt across every department and by every patient we serve.

Thank you for all you do to keep our records organized, our data safe, and our care seamless. We appreciate you this week and every week!
