RN Residency Apprenticeship program spotlight.
RN Preceptor/Mentor Alyssa Staten:

"I am currently a registered nurse in the ICU at Clinch Valley Health. I started out with the RN Residency Program at Clinch Valley Health and with it I excelled quickly. The RN Residency Program has helped me grow as a nurse and obtain close relationships with my coworkers. I have learned better critical thinking skills and time management with this program. With this program I have gained more responsibility and have recently became a mentor for other new nurses. This program has helped me to gain confidence in myself and my abilities. I recommend it to all new nurses that are interested in working at Clinch Valley Health!"

Meet Heather Benfield:

"I am currently a registered nurse in the emergency department at CVMC. I started out with the RN Residency Program at CVMC. Although I was already a registered nurse and had prior experience with emergency medicine through being a paramedic, the RN Residency Program was a great start for me. It provided on-the-job training with a preceptor/mentor while also reviewing crucial details about patient care. Having a mentor also gives you the opportunity to feel comfortable with asking questions without feeling as though your questions are mundane or that you will be belittled for not knowing something simple. This program far surpasses what I expected to get from it. It has provided me with confidence in my abilities and the resources that I will use throughout my nursing career."

Headaches are common and in many cases, rest, hydration and lifestyle adjustments help to manage them. However, it's important to recognize when a headache may be a sign of something more serious.

If you experience a sudden, severe headache or one that’s accompanied by unusual symptoms such as vision changes, confusion or fever, seek medical attention promptly.

When in doubt, talk to your provider!
