It is with great sadness that we mourn the passing of Dr. Virgil Rogers, one of the most exceptional Assistant Principals in the history of South Miami Sr. High. Having opened the school in 1971, Dr. Rogers demonstrated remarkable administrative prowess, combining kindness with strength. After a long and fulfilling life of 94 years, Dr. Rogers will be deeply missed. All former faculty, staff, and graduates of South Miami Sr. High are cordially invited to attend the funeral services. A public viewing will be held on Friday, October 17 from 5 pm to 7 pm, followed by the funeral service on Saturday, October 18 at 11 am. Both services will take place at Martin Memorial AME Church, located at 14700 Lincoln Blvd., Miami, Florida 33176, in Richmond Heights.
