So I rarely get on facebook but I really wanted to share the miracle that God performed in my life this week! This past Sunday my dad woke up and really did not feel well at all and had every intention to just stay home instead of going to church. But "for some reason", he chose to still get up and go which very few of us would have done if we had felt as bad as he did. One of my dad's best friends is a surgeon and he was supposed to have a mandatory staff meeting Sunday morning and was not supposed to be at church. At the last minute, the staff meeting was cancelled and so the doctor was considering enjoying the morning at home since he had just gotten back into town the night before and was tired. The doctor is a Godly man and as he was considering staying home, he told my mom later that he kept having this overwhelming urgency to go to church that morning. So, he went and ending up parking outside the church offices where he never parks. Upon going in that entrance, he saw my dad who was in that area all alone and immediately realized something was very wrong. When he asked my dad how he felt, my dad said, "I am not feeling well at all" and immediately sat down and keeled over. He had a cardiac arrest and his heart completely stopped beating. By the grace of God, the doctor was there and was able to instantly start CPR on him for over 2 minutes before my dad began to breathe again. My dad has been in the hospital all week and just yesterday they opened up the valve that leads from his heart to the rest of his body so that his heart could begin pumping blood to the rest of his body like it is supposed to. He was deathly anemic when he got to the hospital which was why his heart finally gave out.
Words cannot express how overwhelmed I am by God's goodness in my life. Had my dad chosen to stay at home Sunday morning, he would have died that day. Had my dad's doctor friend chosen to stay at home Sunday morning, my dad would have died that day because no one else was around when my dad collapsed.
Proverbs 16:9 says, "In his heart a man plans his course, but the Lord determines his steps." Thank you Jesus for leading my dad to follow You Sunday morning and thank you for leading the doctor to follow You Sunday morning. You knew my dad would be in danger and you got him to your church and provided the help he needed in your perfect timing. Thank you for your love and your mercy and your grace that is present in our lives every day that you give us. Every day that we wake up is another gift from you and I praise You that you have blessed me with more days with my dad. My love for you overwhelms me Jesus and I will never stop praising you!
