Winter often brings shorter days, colder temperatures, and fewer reasons to venture outdoors. While this season can feel cozy and calm, it can also quietly disrupt daily rhythms — especially for older adults. That’s why maintaining a consistent routine during the winter months is so important for senior health, safety, and overall well-being.

A predictable daily routine provides structure, comfort, and a sense of normalcy, even when the weather outside is unpredictable. Read below for why having a routine is important.

👁️ January is National Glaucoma Awareness Month 👁️

Glaucoma is one of the leading causes of vision loss, and early detection is key. Regular eye exams can help identify glaucoma before noticeable symptoms appear. This month, we encourage our residents and families to prioritize eye health and stay informed about the importance of preventive care.

Residents in our Seasons Memory Care get to participate in daily activities that are specially designed for residents with memory impairment. These activities provide for spiritual, social, emotional, and physical and intellectual needs of each resident. A typical day consists of 2-4 planned activities which are balanced with intermittent rest periods and meals in between.

Programs are structured to accommodate the attention span, need for physical movement, cognitive abilities, nutrition and hydration needs of residents with dementia. These include:

➡️ We provide opportunities for residents to engage in simple and familiar activities of everyday life such as cooking projects, watering plants, dressing, and personal hygiene/grooming
➡️ Gross motor activities such as exercising and dancing
➡️ Reality orientation- A daily activity to look at the calendar, date, weather, holidays, newspaper, current events, etc.
➡️ We incorporate appropriate music, selected television programming and videos, games and other forms of sensory and social stimulation

💌 National Letter to an Elder Day – February 26 💌

A simple handwritten letter can make a world of difference. This National Letter to an Elder Day, we’re inviting our community to help spread love and fight loneliness, one letter at a time.

Write a cheerful note, share a memory, say a prayer, or add a drawing. Your words could brighten a senior’s entire day. 💖
