Merry Christmas from us!!
Since I’m not the best at Christmas cards, a little Nix family update:

Gracie is in her third semester at UGA! Thanks to such a head start with AP courses she could have graduated this time next year. Instead, she’s decided to double major in Political Science and History with a minor in Law, giving her more time to study for the LSAT. She was elected as Madam Vice President of the Demothisnioan Literary Society perfecting her craft of debate and public speaking, while continuing to demonstrate her natural leadership skills.

Mary is already halfway through her Senior year of High School while also working almost a full time schedule at the gym. She signed herself up to volunteer at the Station Exchange Nursing Home, every Friday Chitter Chatter time with Mary is on their social calendar and she loves what she calls her new old friends. On top of all that she crushed two half marathons this year in prep for her first marathon next month, 26 in 26! She will start next Fall at Georgia Southern University where she plans to attend Nursing School.

TJ finished his first semester of Homeschool and has his first paying job thanks to the flexibility of it (which he loves). At first his school work was more challenging, the expectations higher than what he was used to, were happy to say that is becoming the new normal making homeschool all together more enjoyable. Him and Tim have an excellent routine and make a great teacher student duo. He also attends a teen lifting class twice a week learning to master his knowledge of the gym, and to keep up with his strong sisters. He’s also offically the second tallest family member! 🥹

Tim and I are still on the honeymoon phase of Army retirement, both loving the work life balance we have in our perspective roles all the while continuing the blessing of building our dreams, with the gift of time and physical presence to not miss a minute of it! 🤍

As any Army family would say, we’ve always known the blessing of together is what means the most, we’re especially grateful to have everyone under one roof and a house full this Christmas!

One year retirement update from my POV as the spouse! This is my experience so far after 21 years as an active duty Army wife, and I think more spouses need to hear this take. Most of the conversations around retirement gave us more to mourn than celebrate, we’ve worked hard to change that story and so far we are!

Also, scroll to the end and see first pics on our new property and where our soon to be front porch will stand! 🤍

Who is Rise Retreat for?
I get asked that question a lot.

Do I have to own a business?
Is it for super fit people?
Only the motivated?
Or just the broken?

Y’all, RISE RETREAT is for ANYONE!
If you have a calling on your life.
A purpose to serve.
A mission to fulfill.
And a commitment to RISING up and chasing that dream. 💫 🪽

It’s for the single mom that needs a minute to remember, believe, and trust in herself.

It’s for the leader that needs time to map out next year’s success and get in touch with who they need to become in order to accomplish it.

For the stay at home mom that needs to be reminded her work matters in ways the world could never measure.

For the woman building and creating her legacy alone, proving to the world what we need to be happy already exists within us.

The busy working woman trying to balance it all; kids, marriage, career, self care, wondering if her mental health can hang in there one more day.

For the ones in a season of change.
A season of struggle.
Or a season of unknowns.

And if you’re anything like me, a woman thats a combination of them all!

It’s a place, position and pause for us to find clarity in our course, with a plan that elevates our individual RISE, together!

Losing yourself isn’t the measure of how well you mother!

As much as you see me post about rasing children being the most significant work we will do as mothers.

I also want you to hear me when I say, that doesn’t imply it’s at the cost of losing yourself in the process!

It’s not one at the expense of the other.

It’s a united calling that fuels success at both.

As much as our kids saw me sacrificing my time, energy and wants to put them and their dad first.

They also saw me sacrificing time, energy and wants to keep myself on that list too!

If I wasn’t actively pursuing my goals it’s because I was willing to pause, deny or pivot to be fully present at home, especially as an Army wife.

Not to volunteer more, although I did a lot of that with many medals to prove it.

Not to make my home more perfect, although we always made each new place feel like home.

And not to be a slave to the kitchen, although we always ate just fine.

Around my daily commitment to be fully present at home I squeezed every bit of free time I had to connect with myself at the gym, in the Bible, or in a room of high achievers seeking to do the same.

Not to look perfect but to feel good about my physical body.

Not as a chore to check off my to do list but as a woman who knew she couldn’t pour from an empty cup.

And not to be rich or famous but becuase I had a calling God put on my heart even as a young mom to help women RISE!

I resisted cultures narrow examples of what a good wife and mom looks like, and the list of accolades that define a powerful woman, and fought like hell to be my best me.

Im not exactly sure how that looks for you, but I do know how important it is to resist creating a story for yourself, or anyone else really, that says it will have to be one without the other.

And on the days you forget, I’ll always be here to remind you!

I started to regret my answer.
It wasnt inspiring or soul shaking.
Of all the ways I could have answered what I said wasn’t pivotal or ground breaking at all.

Here I was on this podcast talking all things power women, rising through the hard parts of my life and still finding success and she asked how would I want to be remembered??

My answer came fast and quick.

“I’d want my kids and family to say she was a good mom”. 😳

Later that evening I kept thinking, “Christie of all the things you could be remembered for that’s what you’d want??”

Maybe still shocked myself that’s what I said, with all achievements I’ve had, the lives I’ve touched and souls I’ve met in my adult life being a good mom was the legacy I’d want most to be remembered by??

I sat with all that for a minute.
Not to talk myself out of regretting what I said but to understand why God put that so fast and solid on my heart.

And He reminded me why.
Because of all the things I’ve done.
Accomplished.
Found success in.
The three missions in my home will be the legacies that live well beyond my lifetime, and how they live can impact the world in ways just my hands ever could.

For the Kingdom.
Not for culture.
And that’s the difference.

While I’ve done many things I can list and show that I’m proud of.

There are twice as many moments, choices and decesions I made that put being their mom first, and those dont come with worldly recognition.

And whatever personal advancements that may have cost me, Im rich in so many more ways only a heart can feel, not measure.

And now that I’m old enough to be on the other end of my personal accomplishments so far, and watching who my young adult children are becoming so far, it’s not hard to let that be the best measure of my success!

And more than enough to say that woman did something worth remembering x3! And hopefully one day beyond 😉🥰.

So now that I’ve said it, and it’ll air for everyone to hear, I’m hopeful more high achieving women raising their babes know the cost our culture charges is nothing compared to the glory given in the Kingdom that matters most.

So go be the best momma you can be, that’s a legacy worth fighting for!

Mary finished her second half marathon for the year with a big time PR! The amount of joy it brings me, watching her experience so much joy running her own race, is priceless!

I wonder where she gets it? 🤷🏼‍♀️😉

Mary signed us up to run a 5K this morning while she did the 10K at the benefit.

It’s crazy to think her and I ran a 5K earlier this year on a whim, not knowing it would be the start of her love for running. A reminder to me why staying fit all these years matters, our kids are still deciding who they are, by watching who we are.

What I love even more is watching her use the outlet as praise and worship for the ability to do so.

Walking or running, 1 mile or 26, living is moving and doing it well is how we honor God for the gift and the ones we wish were still here to do it with us.

As always, just missing our Gracie girl, go Dawgs🫶🏻.

Nothing takes this time away from me! 💯
I’ve noticed being someone that protects this gym time, I’ve also become someone that consistently:

Protects her peace ✌🏻
Guards her boundaries 🛑
Isn’t easily swayed or manipulated 🙏🏼
Never lets my highs get too high 🤩
Or my lows to low 🥺
And I certainly don’t let other people’s opinions tell me who I am!🖕🏻

Mastering a lifestyle of fitness with decades of discipline and action, has done more for who I am and the life that I’ve created than just building muscle mass and burning calories. 💪🏻

Yes, I love to empower women in the gym, increase their confidence with the barbell, lift heavy weights and love how they look and feel.

Even more though, I love to empower you to be someone who keeps promises to herself, feels steady, anchored and consistently disciplined. We all know muscle mass builds the body, being someone who builds the lifestyle she wants outside the gym too, that’s my definition of a truly empowered woman!

Have I had to be flexible and reasonable as a wife and busy mom to make this time happen, of course!
But aside from that, it’s not negotiable, my best body and life aren’t up for grabs. Yours shouldn’t be either!

What you don’t see behind the photos 🤓

One of us had crippling anxiety about walking into the gym, one of us went on her first diet at 13 eating no more than 35 grams of fat in a day, and one of us wasn’t a fan of workouts or strength training, AT ALL!

Now, together, we make up the AFRH leadership team as owner, manager and head coach. It’s because of stories like ours we want everyone who chooses AFRH to know we are rooting for your story too!

No matter where you start, we know AFRH has the solutions. A community that welcomes you, coaches that educate and push you past limiting beliefs, and a foundation built on the common goals of living your best, most healthy, and strongest life.

Because we’ve overcome the anxiety associated with walking in or starting our fitness journey, we’ve healed our relationship with food mastering a lifestyle of diet and exercise, and we commit to the process of training hard because our future health depends on it.

We know whatever your story is, it can have pages of triumph a lot like ours, we’d love the opportunity to show you. Come see us!

While I was busy in Boston it was all things Homecoming week at the Nix household.

So proud of our Mary Nix being nominated for Homecoming court, and Tim for doing Homecoming Dad all weekend long solo (my oh my how the roles reversed there).

I missed the parade, watching her walk across the field at the homecoming football game and photos before the dance. I know my sweet girl missed having her momma there for all those big time moments. However, seeing how beautifully, gracefully and excellently she shows up for herself whether I’m there or not is such a sweet reminder all the moments up until now have given her everything she needs to SHINE all on her own! 💖

Thank you everyone that sent pictures, videos, and FaceTime calls, I almost felt like I didn’t miss a moment because of them. 🤍

Leaving Boston ready to LIGHT UP Anytime Fitness Richmond Hill, GA! ❤️‍🔥💜

After working for myself as long as I had, I didn’t take partnering my passion’s with another brand or other people very lightly.

First I choose their gym to train myself.
That bloomed into doing life with them outside the gym

When Tim decided to retire from the Army that opened doors to be one of their trainers on staff. After a very successful first year that gave life to a leadership role as Head Coach.

After this weekend I’m better equipped to understand the change agent I’ve partnered with in a way I couldn’t see within the walls of our gym. It’s such a special God wink to know there’s no limit to what we can achieve together, no ceiling on the impact we can make, and nothing more powerful than linking arms with the right people.

Together we’re on Purpose, People, Performance, and Play, to live our best life inspiring you to live your best life too.

9 hour flight delays.
Early morning workouts.
Celebrated my 44th bday.
Caught gameday as much as I could.
We ate so much yummy food.
Gorgeous weather in Boston.
My first Mascarade ball.
So much learning and note taking.
Our first work trip as long time friends💘
A busy three days!
Excited to get home and get to work!

Her last first day - our Mary’s a Senior 🖤

And probably the last time the five of us will all be together for a little bit, we move Gracie back to Athens this weekend.

It’s been such a sweet summer having everyone home, extra time with our big kids and our bonus kids, lots of belly laughs for TJ, and impromptu kitchen conversations that feed the soul better than any meal I could ever cook 🤣.

Our full house this summer has filled our hearts, sad to see it end but so grateful for the memories it made. 🤍

Here’s to day 1 of many more, Class of 2026 has officially entered the building, let’s go Mary Ashlynn Nix, YOU GOT THIS!
