Even though the year isn’t quite yet over, I’ve wanted to take some time to reflect on what WE ALL have accomplished together this year so far. 2021 was my most ambitious year supporting families and it brought me to some of the most rewarding, difficult, honest, and divine moments in my life.

NONE of these births would have been possible without the loving families trusting and opening their hearts and most vulnerable moments to me and my team and for that I can not thank you enough 🫂

The end of 2021 had brought me to a season of healing, transformation, and transition so I’m super excited to see what 2022 has for me.

I wish you all a happy holiday season and a wonderful new year 🖤

“I think three words come to mind when i think of my entire experience with keisha through pregnancy and birth; confidence, relief and control. From the moment my partner and I decided to have a baby I knew i wanted to have a doula. I have had anxiety since my middle school years and knew that with being a first time mom this was likely to increase. I also had read about unnecessary medical interventions and wanted to have someone there advocating for me and help me advocate for myself so I could feel in control. Firstly, confidence, having Keisha allowed us to prepare for the ins and outs of labor and birth but also pregnancy and parenthood. We were able to understand each part of pregnancy better and I think that made us a stronger team which has really shown since we brought our son home from the hospital. Having keisha allowed us to have a unit outside of our household where we could safely take our questions, when in doubt text keisha! The next; relief, because of my confidence from keisha I knew I could handle labor and didn’t fear when learning how dilated I was at my 36 week appointment. She encouraged me to relax and enjoy my time at home, my partner and I bonded, talked about our baby to be and were riddled with excitement rather than fear. However, when i had to have Pitocin, the pain was too much for me, I remember my partner calling her as i cried in my L&D bathroom and the relief I felt as soon as she said hi, again we went over my options and I decided to get the epidural; relief. I labored for several more hours and as time for delivery approached Keisha came to our side. The second she stepped in the room, I could breathe easier;relief. keisha validated the hell out me, for listening to my body and doing what I needed for me, my baby and my partner…”

October is Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Month
I thought about writing this super long post but couldn’t bring myself to it. Maybe one day … but for now here’s a letter I ran into recently from my moms coworker’s daughter that she gave me after the loss of my second pregnancy.
I love each and everyone one of you and y’all should know that 🫂

Bringing Rory into the world did not unfold exactly as I’d imagined. A prenatal appointment turned into an induction, and then 29 hours of labor turned into an unplanned c section. But I had the best support team of and our doula The night Rory was born was a really busy night at the hospital, and there were a few hour long stretches where we didn’t see our nurse or midwife or anyone else. But Keisha was there the whole time, the same amazing presence in the hospital that she had been throughout my pregnancy. She answered every question we had, helped me understand my options, and just made the whole experience a little more human. Keisha, I cannot imagine what it would have been like to bring Rory into the world without you, and am so grateful for your role in her birth story. Thank you!
