What is the VB-MAPP?
If your child is receiving ABA at Beyond
Behavior ABA, you may hear our team talk about something called the VB-MAPP assessment — but what is that?
The VB-MAPP (Verbal Behavior Milestones Assessment and Placement Program) is one tool we use to understand how your child learns, communicates, and interacts with the world. The results of the assessment helps us:
🦋 Identify your child’s strengths
🦋 See how they’re developing language and social skills
🦋 Identify areas where extra support may help
🦋 Create an individualized treatment plan tailored to their needs
The VB-MAPP breaks skills into small, meaningful milestones—things like asking for what they need, playing with others, following directions, or understanding language. As your child meets these milestones, we celebrate their progress and adjust goals to support continued growth.
Our goal is always the same: to help your child thrive, learn, and reach their fullest potential.

If you ever have questions about the VB-MAPP or your child’s ABA program, we’re here to support you every step of the way! 🦋

📢 SOCIAL MEDIA ALERT — IMMEDIATE ATTENTION NEEDED
🚨 Many children receiving autism services within Kentucky are facing unexpected disruptions due to a newly enforced policy requiring updated autism diagnoses every 3 to 5 years.
On September 23, 2025, providers were informed of important changes to eligibility for autism-related services:
🔹 Diagnoses must now be updated every 3 to 5 years
🔹 Diagnoses must be made by a physician (MD or higher)
🔹 These changes are being applied retroactively, without sufficient advance notice
This policy is impacting families and providers within Kentucky, creating unnecessary barriers and disrupting essential care for children with autism.
💬 We are urging:
📍 Governor Andy Beshear
📍 Kentucky Department for Medicaid Services (DMS)
📍 State and Federal Lawmakers
…to pause implementation, reinstate services, and ensure continuity of care while proper reviews and clarifications are conducted.
🧠 Autism is a lifelong condition — access to care must reflect that.

🧭 HOW YOU CAN HELP:
✍️ Contact the Governor: governor.ky.gov/contact/contact-us
🏥 Contact Medicaid (DMS): chfs.ky.gov/agencies/dms
📍 Find your legislator: legislature.ky.gov
📢 Please share this post to raise awareness and protect access to vital autism services for children in Kentucky.

Autism is more common today than many might realize! The newest CDC data shows that about 1 in 31 children (around 3.2%) aged 8 in the U.S. are identified with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).

Factors that contribute to the rise in prevalence include:
• Increased Awareness: Greater public and professional awareness has led to more recognition of autism.

• Earlier screening and Diagnosis: Better screening tools and diagnostic methods, particularly in historically underserved communities, allow for earlier identification.

• Broader Diagnostic Criteria: The expansion of the concept of autism to a spectrum of impairments also contributes to higher identification rates.
