Seeing Stonehenge in person is something I still think about years later. I can’t wrap my head around the complexity of this prehistoric structure—how people, thousands of years ago, worked with such persistence to create it.

Standing beside the stones made me feel so small and insignificant… but in the best way. There’s something comforting in knowing billions have lived and died before me. I find it grounding to be able to recognize my place in the long thread of human existence

"So, what is empathy and why is it VERY different than sympathy?

- Empathy fuels connection.
- Sympathy drives disconnection.
- Empathy is feeling WITH people.

And to me, I always think of empathy as this kind of sacred space. When someone’s kind of in a deep hole and they shout from the bottom and they say… “I’m stuck. It’s dark. I’m overwhelmed," and we look and we say, “Hey!” and climb down… “I know what it’s like down here. And you’re not alone.” - Brene Brown

I love this quote because it explains what out role as a doula is. Our role as a doula isn't to solve all the problems but rather to be a companion who is empathetic to the person they are serving.

You plan for peace of mind -both for yours and your loved ones. Planning ahead doesn't mean you are ok with dying, it's the responsible thing to do.

There are a million ways to say goodbye but I have met many folks who choose not to say those words.

For them, their final goodbye will be in different forms. However, you choose to show one final act of love to the one who is passing, that is your decision.
