Virginia Eye Institute (VEI) is a comprehensive eye care organization providing a wide range of ophthalmology, optometry, and optical services in 8 locations across central Virginia. VEI offers exceptional ophthalmologic care—including cataract, cornea, glaucoma, retina, ocular plastics, pediatrics, and refractive surgery (LASIK). VEI also has an Aesthetic Center in Short Pump performing remarkable cosmetic and reconstructive surgeries by our fellowship-trained specialists, and a Hearing Center at our Reynolds Crossing location with a dedicated audiologist. VEI also owns and operates an out-patient Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC) which provides ophthalmology and cosmetic surgical services to pediatric and adult patients. VEI’s optical shops are ranked as one of the nation’s “50 Best Optical Shops”.

Building sustainable, long-term eye care is at the heart of our mission and this year’s trip to St. Vincent showed just how powerful that commitment can be. 💙✨

One of the biggest impacts from the trip was training local ophthalmologists, Dr. Adams and Dr. Diaz, to use two donated ZEISS imaging systems previously utilized at VEI. These advanced devices now allow them to capture retinal images and perform diagnostics independently, making high-quality eye care more accessible for years to come.

As we approach Giving Tuesday, we’re celebrating the work that YOU help make possible. Your generosity strengthens patient care, supports global partners, and restores sight in communities near and far.

This year, our Foundation team traveled to St. Vincent and the Grenadines, partnering with local providers to bring sight-saving eye care to patients who otherwise may not have had access. 🌍💙

During the visit, Dr. LaRosa, Dr. Brown and the Foundation team helped provide critical care through 17 surgical cases, 4 laser procedures, and 50 patient consultations.

One of the most meaningful moments from the trip was helping treat a baby diagnosed with congenital glaucoma. Early intervention made a remarkable difference and the team was encouraged to see improved vision with an excellent long-term outlook.

This mission is part of our ongoing effort to strengthen vision care in underserved communities around the world. Your support helps restore sight, expand access to care, and bring hope to patients and families who need it most. ✨
