MYTH: "My calcium score was zero, so my heart must be fine."

This one comes up a lot, and we get why. It sounds reassuring. But a calcium score of zero means there’s no *calcified* plaque. Soft, non-calcified plaque (which can be just as dangerous) won’t show up on a standard scan.

Our team uses AI-enhanced imaging to see the full picture. If you’ve had a calcium score and felt like something was missing, or if you’ve never had one and want to know where you stand, let’s talk.

9 locations across Central Virginia. Physician-led care from day one.

259 people. 1,900 years of service. And this is just a small sampling of what they say about each other.

This is the heart behind the care.

Strong Hearts. Strong Team. Happy Employee Appreciation Week.

05/13/2026

This week, we celebrated the people who make VCS what it is. Our team received their
Employee Appreciation Week gifts on Tuesday, and we loved seeing the smiles across every
office. Thank you for being the heart behind the care. Strong Hearts. Strong Team. ❤

Numbers tell a story.

Behind every appointment, every procedure, every phone call, and every follow-up is a team that has chosen to show up for our patients year after year. 259 team members. 1,900 combined years of service to VCS and our community. That kind of dedication does not happen by accident. It is a reflection of who you are.

Happy Employee Appreciation Week to the heart behind the care. ❤ Strong Hearts. Strong Team.

05/11/2026

This week belongs to you.

May 11 through 17 is VCS Employee Appreciation Week, and this year our theme says exactly what we mean. You are the heart behind the care. Every patient who walks through our doors
experiences your dedication, your attentiveness, and your commitment to doing things right. That is not a small thing. It is everything.

Thank you. ❤ Strong Hearts. Strong Team.

May is American Stroke Month: A reminder that stroke can happen to anyone, at any age.

Learn the warning signs with B.E. F.A.S.T. (Balance, Eyes, Face, Arms, Speech, Time to call 911) and know that acting quickly can save a life and improve recovery outcomes.

The American Stroke Association also emphasizes that up to 80% of strokes may be preventable through healthy lifestyle choices and managing risk factors like blood pressure.

Did you catch the recent Wall Street Journal article about heart scans and statin decisions? Our cardiologist, Dr. William Coble, weighs in with something the article didn't have room to cover: what a standard calcium score can miss, and when more advanced imaging gives you a fuller picture.

The short version? A calcium score of zero doesn't always mean you're in the clear.

Read the full post in the comment below, and if this has been on your mind, reach out. Preventive imaging is most valuable before symptoms appear, and we're scheduling now.
