Like many of you, I’m sure, I am still finding my bearings with all of the changes over the past few weeks — the flurry of fear, the wildly chaotic attempts to make sense of things, with getting lost in it all while also trying to stay as intimately connected to what I know to be true...

I have held space for so much grief and fear and uncertainty over the past few weeks — my own and that of friends, family, community members, clients, and students.

And my only assurance is that we will meet it.

Not that it’ll be ok or that the things we fear won’t actually happen, or that it’s not as bad as we think it is. I have no interest in speaking anything other than the truth. And, in my experience, the truth is more often than not, heartbreakingly painful.

But what is our choice? We already are meeting it and we will continue to do so.

As the beautiful human and poet said, “even when the truth isn’t hopeful, the telling of it is.”

So meet me here, in the truth. Be with me here so that we can find our way forward with possibility and the strength of community.

Some guiding questions:

— What is needed, right now, from the individual level to the community level?
— How can we show up in service of collective care and wellbeing?
— What is needed to create the space for increasing our capacity to prioritize what matters the most?

I have much more to share on this and, specifically, about how we can remember and lean in to the agency of our attention as an antidote to the extreme distraction that is being experienced. I’ll share that soon…

Until then, here’s to the telling of the truth and finding hope in that.

(Also: while I will remain here on this platform, I will be minimally present as I’ve found a much greater sense of discernment and truth off of it for now. Best way to reach me is via email - ellie@ellieburke.life - or find me IRL at my monthly Saturday Sits 🙏🏼)

If I were to pick one intention or resolution or wish for 2025 it would be this:

That each of us do the work needed to make choices from a place of self-love instead of self-hate.

Self-love is connected to an all-encompassing, greater love that includes everything.

Self-hate is connected to an all-encompassing, bigger hate that also includes everything.

So, when you set those goals, define those steps, and take those actions, ask yourself, “is this coming from a loving place inside of myself or one that is judging, critical, punitive, coercive, or ridiculing?”

Hear what you’re telling yourself. Feel how you’re relating to yourself. Become aware of what narrative is motivating your choices. And if that is in anyway negative, loathing, or uncaring, see it and shift it.

It takes ongoing practice—the seeing and shifting. But it creates permanent change.

You can make the same visible/external choices but motivated from an entirely different place and that changes everything from the micro level of your individual experience to the macro level of how we collectively relate to one another and the world as a whole.

Choose from love instead of hate.🤍

.
As we celebrate the return to light, experience the beauty and joy of giving, and usher in a new year, we are invited to look back so that we may move forward.

What does this mean?

Reflection — the willingness to look to the past — allows us to see what is most important now. The truth is we are always changing, evolving, growing, learning; whether we realize it or not. This means that what is true for us now, will likely not (dare I say *should not*) be what was true for us before.

Without reflecting, we create an incongruent experience in ourselves - part of us has grown but part of us remains fixed as “the same.”

Square peg, round hole.

It can be subtle but the feeling increases, if not explored, leaving us feeling things like “stuck,” “without purpose,” “unfulfilled,” “aimless,” “dissatisfied,” and “lacking intention.”

We often like to jump to choices before we get clear on what’s actually true to us. Choices feel like plans; they feel productive and effective. But when not tethered to what’s true for us now, those choices often take us further away rather than towards what we truly want.

Over the next few days, I invite you to explore the following questions:

🌀What have you experienced in this past year that has grown or changed you?

🌀What has shown itself to need and deserve primary attention?

🌀What is something that you have centralized in your life up until now that needs to be released?

🌀Where do you feel a longing, emptiness, or a growing wish?

Once you’ve spent some time with your answers, consider what choices — big or small — align with these new truths. These can be daily choices of where you are putting your attention, or bigger choices about how you will nourish yourself, what practices you will commit to in your life.

If you would like support in exploring either or both of these things — your truths and your choices — know that I’m here and happy to work with you.

SPRING RETREAT: Nourishing the Whole Self at {link in profile}

Take space to explore aspects of yourself and your well-being. Through all that is offered, you will be able to discover and nurture parts of yourself that need it most–whether that’s through connection and community, quiet and introspection, movement or stillness, activity or rest.

I invite you to show up for yourself–practice yoga and meditation, eat nourishing and delicious food, connect with yourself and others, soak in outdoor hot springs-filled tubs and do a cold plunge in the pond, and wander through or rest in nature.

Leave not just restored and rejuvenated but with the knowledge and know-how to bring wellness into your daily life. Now, more than ever, our individual and collective wellbeing matters.

Option to arrive early on 3/19! Early arrival includes accommodations, meals, and access to all amenities on-site. The retreat will officially begin on March 20th at 5pm.

There is something about the warmth and realness of these two photos captured by .does.it.all and from the meditation retreat this weekend that somehow captures the inner experience, the repetition, the surrender, the presence, and the collective attention of this group of humans.

It’s is an honor to be able to share what I have been given by my teacher and integrated through my own experiences. It is not something I take lightly or for granted.

I hold each person who shows up, especially within the intensity of this particular container, with a deep tenderness, with love, and with the wish that they may experience the truth of their being. Thank you for trusting me 🙏🏼

What does “wellness” mean and, more importantly, what do you need to cultivate well-being in your life? As human beings we are multifaceted and complex but that doesn’t mean our path toward wellness has to be complicated. It means that it needs to be unique to you.

Join me for this year’s Spring Retreat, where you will have the space to explore aspects of yourself and your sense of well-being.
