Sad to hear that we lost Carolly Hauksdottir, artist of our second logo, last weekend after a short hospitalization.

Hobbit History: in 1994 we moved for the first time, from Telegraph to downtown. With Debbie leaving the partnership later in the year, it was time to commission a new logo. This was the winning design by Carolly Hauksdottir.

Have not seen confirmation outside of a flood of people on FB passing along the news that the great and funny Suzy McKee Charnas has left us. Dave is so sad he can't even begin to comment. She was a buddy and sweetheart to the bookstore. Looks like she last did a reading for us in 1996.

It is with great sadness that we followed the trajectory of Greg Bear's post-surgery stroke over the last week. And with no hope of waking up, following his wishes, the plug has been pulled.

Greg was a supporter of the bookstore from the beginning, and a friend to its founders. Our sympathies to Astrid Bear and their children.
