Congratulations, Angela! And thank you for your dedicated service to our patients!

"And her love of science has been instilled with a true mission through volunteering with CrossOver Healthcare Ministry in Richmond. As a first-generation Hispanic American, Gates realized how valuable her Spanish skills were as she shadowed providers and interacted with patients.

“Because I knew Spanish, I ended up helping them and translating,” she said. “The patients were so happy to have someone who talked and looked like them. That experience really made an impact on me, so that’s where I’m trying to go.”"

In Virginia Commonwealth University’s School of Pharmacy, Gates graduated this spring with her Pharm.D. – balancing her final weeks of clinical rotations with training for a half-marathon. It’s a fitting pace for a student who has spent the last seven years at VCU challenging herself, both in ...

We had such a great time celebrating with more than 100 of our volunteers and employed staff at last week's Spring Volunteer Appreciation Event! The weather was perfect, the conversation was lively, and the food and drinks were delicious!

Julie Bilodeau introduced our new Volunteer Coordinator Mollie Bowman to the crowd, and Richard Walker and Marilyn Metzler presented a trophy to the winner of CrossOver's NCAA March Madness Bracket Challenge—also Mollie!

Volunteers are the heartbeat of CrossOver, and we were glad to take the party out of the clinic and into the sunshine for an evening of community and celebration!

We're celebrating Volunteer Appreciation Week this week at CrossOver! Each week dozens of volunteers serve in our clinics, with warm hearts, big smiles, and lots of care. Whether they're at the front desk, in the lab, at the nurses' station, or teaching sewing, volunteers are the heartbeat of CrossOver.

Know one of these dedicated volunteers? Tag them in the comments!

Happy Easter from CrossOver Healthcare Ministry! May you experience resurrection and renewal during this season of celebration!

04/03/2026

This weekend, we'll reflect on the somberness and grief of Good Friday and the celebration and joy of Easter. The work of resurrection and renewal happens every day at CrossOver. The Lee's story is one example of the healing power of hope and compassion.

We're excited for Lee Mitchell to take the helm at Needle's Eye! CrossOver has a long connection with Needle's Eye since both were founded by Buddy Childress. Lee continues that legacy as a member of CrossOver's Board of Directors and now Executive Director of Needle's Eye Faith & Work Community!

Spring into Action: Caring for Caregivers RECAP | Nearly 300 women filled the Grand Ballroom at Jefferson Hotel Richmond last Thursday for a rich morning of connection and learning about how CrossOver cares for caregivers in our community.

Our speakers included Antoinette Essa - WTVR CBS 6, Dr. Elizabeth Sadock, and Dr. Danielle Sarah Avula who shared poignantly about caregiving and caregivers. We were reminded of what is needed along our own caregiving journeys and how CrossOver's staff and volunteers provide dignified, whole-person care to patients who are also caregivers to their own families and neighbors.

So far, more than $73,000 has been raised through this year's Spring into Action breakfast! We’re so thankful to our event sponsors, as well as each woman who joined us for showing your support for the caregivers in our community through your generous giving!
