This Black History Month, we honor Lynda Woodruff for her lasting contributions to the field of physical therapy and her leadership in advancing equity, representation, and excellence in healthcare. She was also one of 2 students to desegregate EC Glass high school in Lynchburg at the age of 13.
Lynda Woodruff is widely recognized for her work as a clinician, educator, mentor, and advocate, as well as for her involvement in professional organizations dedicated to strengthening the physical therapy profession. She has played a key role in mentoring future physical therapists, supporting diversity within the profession, and promoting patient-centered, evidence-based care.
Through her leadership, advocacy, and service, Lynda Woodruff has helped open doors for underrepresented communities while elevating standards of care and professional engagement across physical therapy. Her impact continues to shape the profession and inspire those who follow in her footsteps.
We celebrate her legacy, leadership, and dedication—this month and always.
