Richmond VA Medical Center is now the first VA medical center in the country to offer high-dose-rate (HDR) brachytherapy for prostate cancer – a highly targeted radiation treatment that delivers greater precision, safety, and convenience for Veterans and their families.

This advanced therapy can reduce treatment time, limit side effects by better protecting healthy tissue, and help Veterans get back to their lives sooner. We’re proud to see this innovation available right here in Richmond and grateful to the teams making it possible for those who served.

Shout-out to Dr. Jasmohan Bajaj and the Richmond VA Medical Center team for game-changing research on Veterans living with cirrhosis.

By looking at almost 48,000 Veterans, they found that regular preventive dental care was associated with lower odds of liver cancer, fewer complications like hepatic encephalopathy, and fewer hospitalizations.

In other words, keeping up with routine dental visits can do much more than protect your smile – it can help protect your liver and overall health.
