Many Women Veterans live with MST in silence—pushing through nightmares, anxiety, or shame while feeling like no one will understand.

VA MST‑related services are designed to be trauma‑informed, confidential, and focused on your healing, not on “proving” your experience.

Join the MST-focused session at the She Served: Women Veterans Virtual Summit to learn what support looks like and what your options are—no storytelling required to attend.

U.S. Marine Corps Private First Class James Anderson Jr., the first Black Marine awarded the Medal of Honor, stands as a powerful Black History Month reminder of courage, sacrifice, and progress. In Vietnam, he pulled an enemy gr***de to his chest and absorbed the blast, giving his life at age 20 to save the Marines beside him. Posthumously awarded the Medal of Honor on August 21, 1968, his legacy continues to inspire Marines, strengthen Black military history, and honor all who fight for freedom and equality.

Today for Black History Month, we recognize the 369th Infantry Regiment, known as The Harlem Hellfighters. An African American unit in World War I renowned for their bravery, combat record, and cultural impact.

in 1919, the Harlem Hellfighters returned home. The 369th Infantry Regiment was a legendary U.S. Army unit in World War I, spending 191 days in combat, longer than any other American unit, without losing ground or having a Soldier captured.

Originally the 15th New York National Guard, they served under French command, earned 171 Croix de Guerre medals, and became the first Allied unit to reach the Rhine.

Nine Soldiers are shown in this photograph. Two of them, Leon Fraiter and Herbert Taylor, are buried at Long Island National Cemetery and Calverton National Cemetery.

Please pay tribute to Fraiter at https://www.vlm.cem.va.gov/LEONEFRAITER/24473EC and Taylor at https://www.vlm.cem.va.gov/HERBERTTAYLOR/FA6778E
