This week I had the chance to speak about herbalism and plant medicine on local tv, sharing a little about how everyday plants can support wellbeing and reconnect us to the natural world.
Teaching herbal classes at Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden has been one of the ways I get to keep the tradition of knowledge sharing moving forward. Grateful to Madison Moore at ABC8News for the invitation to talk about this work and why it matters. The full interview is linked in the bio.
More about herbal education, plant profiles, and upcoming classes soon.

It’s spring again.
Which feels both familiar and brand new.

The beds are waking up. The soil is softening after winter’s quiet. Bulbs are pushing up toward the light of longer days. There is something fresh to tend, something to learn, something else that requires patience.

Farming flowers is a practice in hope. You plan months ahead, trusting that tiny seeds will become armfuls of beauty. Some mornings that trust feels easy. Other mornings it feels nerve-wracking. Weather shifts. Crops surprise you. There are a hundred things you can’t control.

Right now we’re planting, preparing, watching, and dreaming about the arrangements these flowers will become. Soon they’ll make their way into your memberships, meaningful gatherings, and the spaces where people celebrate, grieve, and mark the days that matter.

Stay close to the unfolding season, join the newsletter through the website. That’s where we share farm progress, floral releases, and opportunities to work together.

Spring #2 at True Grit Farm & Flower.

Our first Valentine’s Day is complete and we are standing in the afterglow.

To everyone who preordered.
To everyone who trusted us with a same day surprise.
To everyone who sent love through petals instead of words.

This week was full of quiet moments behind the scenes. Stems trimmed. Ribbon tied. Notes of love written carefully. We watched bouquets leave the studio and head toward dining tables, office desks, kitchen counters, and hands that needed something beautiful to hold.

If your flowers are living with you now, we would love to see them where they landed. Tag us in your photos of petals in place at home or work so we can celebrate them with you.

Thank you for letting us be part of your stories.

It's been a year! As the dust settles we are taking stock of all that has been. Yes, we grew flowers and curated your celebration vibes through florals. We grew clarity too. True Grit Farm & Flower continues to evolve. We captured a few seasonal reflections here: http://bit.ly/4sgIVDb

Recently, we gathered at Quarry for an evening of floral magic and wild creativity. Each stem, from the True Grit fields to your hands. Thank you to the incredible group who showed up to design, share laughs, trade tips, and courageously let the flowers lead the way to an arrangement reflecting something beautiful and true to you.

🌿Fibers that Bind🌿

My latest monograph is live on the blog, and it’s a powerful one. We’re tracing the deep roots of cotton, through the people, the land, the labor, and the legacy bound in every fiber. This isn’t just a nerdy musing about a plant. It’s about memory, burden, resilience, and the complicated histories we carry forward. Head to the website to read it.

And if this speaks to you, you’ll want to join me for the Art of Herbalism series presented by , where we explore how plants shape our lives, past and present, through hands-on making and meaningful conversation. Each session is an invitation to remember, reconnect, and create.
