At age 9, Christina-Taylor Green had just been elected to her student council and was waiting to meet me when she was fatally shot in Tucson.

She should be celebrating her 19th birthday today. She should be in college and working on the big plans she had for her life.

I’m thinking of Christina-Taylor’s family today and the dreams she had of public service and of our country’s future. I hope we can all help carry them out.
