During two high-risk pregnancies, a Henrico mom spent weeks in our antepartum unit and saw both heartbreak and hope. In the moments that mattered most; the nurses, physicians and NICU team at Henrico Doctors' Hospital showed up with expert care and compassion.
From steady support in Labor & Delivery to detailed bedside notes in the NICU, to simple acts of kindness helped her feel seen and never alone.
Today, both of her children are thriving, and she says Henrico Doctors’ Hospital will always feel like “coming home.” We’re thankful for our Women’s Hospital and NICU teams — for the skill, dedication and heart they bring to families every day.

❤️ Have you heard of ? It happens when the heart's electrical signals fall out of rhythm, which can lead to an irregular heartbeat and a range of symptoms. Some arrhythmias are harmless, while others may need more attention.
Arrhythmias can affect anyone. If your heartbeat feels a little "off" or you're noticing unusual symptoms, it's best to get it checked out. If you're experiencing chest pain, severe shortness of breath or fainting, seek emergency care right away.
If you'd like to get your symptoms checked and it's not something requiring emergency care, schedule an appointment with one of our cardiologists: https://bit.ly/40530Q2

At the beginning of her kidney disease journey, Sheila Williams was resistant to dialysis. But she finally chose life over dying. She was started on dialysis and then sought out kidney transplantation at the Virginia Transplant Center at Henrico Doctors' Hospital. Last Thursday, she received her new kidney and has a new lease on life!
The mortality rate of patients on dialysis increases 10% every year, but receiving a kidney transplant stops that accumulation in its tracks. When you need a kidney transplant, experience and support matter — at every step. At the Virginia Transplant Center at Henrico Doctors’ Hospital, our team has provided kidney transplant services to Central Virginia since 1990, guiding patients and living donors through a personalized, coordinated process.
"I'm very grateful to the doctors and the staff here. They took care of me, kept me informed, and were so kind," said Sheila. "I feel good and I thank God for my transplant."

Brent Farber came to the Henrico Doctors' Hospital ER earlier this week with a severe headache that turned out to be a brain bleed. Thanks to our excellent care teams in the ER, Neuro Interventional Radiology, and ICU, Brent and Brenda Farber are headed home today, just two days after his procedure to repair his brain.
"I had no clue the talent you had here to repair things like this," said Brent. "You absolutely saved my life and I am eternally thankful for you guys."
We're proud of our team that continues to advance the level of care available to our community, like the Neuro Interventional Radiology Lab and the minimally invasive procedures that can send someone home two days after brain surgery. Well done, HCA colleagues!
