Strokes happen suddenly. Knowing the signs — and acting fast — can save lives. Use B.E. F.A.S.T. to spot stroke warning signs. If you notice these signs, call 911 right away.

Our broader HCA Healthcare network and the HCA Healthcare Foundation collaborate with the American Heart Association on their Getting to the Heart of Stroke™ initiative. Together, we're helping to raise awareness about the connection between heart health and stroke.

National Trauma Survivors Day is a time to recognize the strength of trauma survivors and the care teams, first responders and loved ones who support them through recovery.

At Henrico Doctors’ Hospital, we were honored to gather on May 20 with survivors, families and colleagues to reflect, reconnect and celebrate the progress that recovery can make possible.

Trauma recovery often continues long after a patient leaves the hospital. Follow-up care, rehabilitation, emotional support and community all play an important role in healing. Days like this can help raise awareness of what survivors may face after a serious injury and remind people that recovery is not always a straight line.

We are grateful to everyone who joined us for this meaningful event and to the teams who help support patients through every stage of care and recovery.

Our Virginia Transplant Center team was proud to take part in the Goochland Day Parade this past weekend.

Dressed as superheroes, our colleagues joined the community to share an important message about organ donation and transplantation. Events like this help us connect with families, raise awareness and encourage conversations that can save lives.

Thank you to everyone who came out and helped make it such a fun community event.

Today, on National Clinical Trials Day, we recognize the important role clinical research plays in advancing care and expanding possibilities for our community.

At Henrico Doctors’ Hospital, our physicians and research teams are helping bring innovative care closer to home through clinical trials across specialties. This work reflects our commitment to delivering high-quality, patient-centered care and advancing knowledge that can help shape the future of medicine.

Recent highlights from our clinical research program include:
🔬 Exceeded annual NRG Oncology Program enrollment with 8 enrollments — the highest enrollment among HCA Healthcare Research Institute NRG Pilot Program facilities in 2025
🔬 Top 20 enroller in the EMPOWER Trial in 2025

Our physician investigators include Dr. Cecelia Boardman, Dr. Jori Carter, Dr. Tyler Ford, Dr. Steffanie Owens, Dr. Laurie Cuttino, Dr. Michael Arcarese, Dr. Robert Levitt, Dr. Harsimran Saini, Dr. Mohammad Rajab, Dr. Chiwon Hahn, Dr. Vienne Murray and Dr. Varun Maheshwari. AP and brand guidance support using Dr. with first reference for medical doctors and keeping language straightforward and proof-backed.

These milestones reflect the expertise of our care teams and our dedication to expanding access to first-class clinical research for the patients we serve.

Do you know if you’re at risk for a stroke? The good news is that many stroke risk factors are manageable with routine checkups, care and healthy lifestyle choices. Knowing your numbers and talking with your doctor are important first steps.

We’re connected to the broader HCA Healthcare network of care, which includes 45 comprehensive stroke centers. Caregivers across our network treat more than 60,000 stroke patients each year.

Through the support of HCA Healthcare and the HCA Healthcare Foundation — in collaboration with the American Heart Association’s Getting to the Heart of Stroke™ initiative — we're helping to raise awareness about the connection between heart health and stroke and providing education and resources to our communities.

If you or someone you know suffers a stroke, call 911 immediately. Before you need emergency care, know where to find an ER near you: https://bit.ly/3RkJ6PZ

During Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Week, we join our broader HCA Healthcare network in recognizing the first responders and EMS professionals — both in our communities and across our organization — who answer the call when patients need care most.

Each year, approximately 10 million patients receive care in HCA Healthcare emergency rooms and many of those patients rely on EMS professionals for safe, timely transport to our ERs, as well as critical care along the way.

We’re proud to honor these dedicated first responders and EMS teams. Thank you for showing up with skill, courage and compassion every hour of every day. We’re grateful for the life-saving care you provide and the steady support you bring to the patients and communities you serve.
