That’s exactly the kind of moment Jane and her regular Nabor, Molly, love to share. Even though their visits are often about checking things off the to-do list, they always take time to slow down, laugh, and appreciate life’s small, beautiful surprises. A few years ago, when my son had graduated from high school and headed off to college, I saw an ad for Naborforce on TV and immediately told my husband, “I’m going to call them.” It was perfect for me.

I could completely appreciate a company like this because I had been assisting my dad from afar — helping care for both him and my mother, who had Alzheimer’s. They lived in a relatively small city and didn’t have anything like Naborforce available. Oh, if they had, it would have made such a difference.

Since then, I’ve met so many wonderful people. I’ve had clients I’ve stayed in touch with even after they needed more specific care and could no longer use Naborforce. Clients truly become friends. I love hearing about their families, their travels, and the work they still remember so vividly. Whether it’s running errands, going to doctor’s appointments, enjoying lunch out, organizing at home (I love those visits!), or simply playing a game and chatting, I love knowing they feel good when I leave.

Naborforce also gives me the flexibility to visit my dad in person and stay busy with my favorite hobbies — golf, gardening, cooking, and spending time with my husband and son. Visiting with clients, whether it’s a one-time visit or something regular, has become such a fun and meaningful part of my week!

Meet Nabor Cindy!

When I retired from my government career at the FDA after 33 years, I still felt I had something to offer. Then I saw a TV segment about Naborforce and thought, how perfect. I had started out in nursing and knew all too well how frustrating it can be just to get help for something like a doctor’s appointment.

What I’ve found is that all our experiences come together in ways that make us relatable—whether it’s grocery shopping, making soup, sharing lunch, taking a walk, hearing someone’s family or career stories, or even going out to dress a horse. Patience and empathy go such a long way in helping older adults cope and feel connected.

Along the way, I’ve met the most inspiring people—former teachers, a head nurse, even an engineer who served in the Tuskegee Armed Forces. He was impressed that I knew a bit of electronic jargon from helping my dad with TV repair back in the day—I even tested cathode tubes!

I’m constantly amazed at how many clients are determined to stay independent. I’ve learned that a simple “hello,” or a compliment like “you look nice” or “your nails are pretty” can make someone’s entire day.💕

We’re all in this together.

Sidebar: One of the hardest moments was when a client’s horse died. She was devastated. I held her hand, cried with her, and later signed the card in the lobby. That horse had been her everything.🐴
