CAREGIVERS INVITED TO PARTICIPATE IN RESEARCH – VIRTUAL FOCUS GROUP FOR CAREGIVERS OF BRAIN TUMOR PATIENTS
Virginia Commonwealth University / Massey Cancer Center / LiveNOW Lab
We are interested in learning more about the emotional needs of caregivers and their preferences for counseling. We are conducting virtual focus groups of bereaved caregivers of
patients diagnosed with brain tumors. The focus group will last approximately 90 minutes and consist of 6-8 other bereaved caregivers. You will be asked to share your perspective on the
caregiving experience and tell us how psychologists can best support caregivers. Following the focus group, we will invite you to complete online surveys (approximately 30 minutes).
If you served as a caregiver of a patient diagnosed with a brain tumor and your loved one passed within the last six months – three years, we would appreciate your input. We will
compensate you for your time with two Amazon gift cards for completing the focus group and subsequent online questionnaires. There is no cost associated with this study.
If you are interested or have additional questions, please contact us at LiveNOW@vcu.edu or 804-828-9815. Thank you for your time and consideration!

PATIENTS INVITED TO PARTICIPATE IN RESEARCH –
VIRTUAL 6-WEEK GROUP INTERVENTION FOR INSOMNIA
Virginia Commonwealth University / Massey Cancer Center / LiveNOW Lab
We are a research lab housed within VCU’s Massey Cancer Center, Division of Neuro-oncology and we are currently recruiting for a research project. If you are having trouble falling asleep, staying asleep, or waking up too early, then you might be interested in our project. Participation involves:
• Complete screening questionnaires to determine if you are eligible to continue in the study and provide informed consent.
• If eligible, you will be asked to virtually attend 6 weekly meetings via Zoom where you will learn behavioral skills and strategies for improving your sleep in a small group of other participants with brain tumors.
• You will be asked to answer a series of surveys online before and after the 6-week study.
There is no cost to participate in the study. We will be compensating you for your time.
No medications will be prescribed as part of this program. This study is not an overnight sleep evaluation (polysomnography). You will instead learn strategies to improve your sleep as part of a weekly, virtual, group intervention. If you are interested or have additional questions, please contact us at LiveNOW@vcu.edu or 804-828-6799. Thank you for your time and consideration!
