This is a great reminder and similar to unwanted prescription drug disposal.

For unused prescription pills:
You can dispose of them at places like Meijer Pharmacy or during drug takeback days at the local police department.

For liquid prescriptions:
o Mix with undesirable substances: Remove the liquid from its original container and mix it with an unappealing substance like dirt, cat litter, or used coffee grounds. This helps prevent accidental ingestion by children or pets.
o Place in a sealed container: Put the mixture in a container that can be sealed, such as a plastic bag or an empty can, to prevent leaks.
o Dispose in household trash: Discard the sealed container in your regular household trash.

🧴🚫 Wayne County Residents: Dispose of Household Chemicals Safely! 🧼♻️

From old paint to unused cleaners, some items in your home could be hazardous if thrown in the trash or poured down the drain.

Common hazardous household items include:
🧪 Paints & paint thinners
🛢️ Motor oil & antifreeze
🧼 Bleach & ammonia
🌿 Pesticides & w**d killers
🚽 Drain cleaners & other harsh chemicals

These materials can harm our local water supply, environment, and even put sanitation workers at risk.

✅ Wayne County EMA encourages you to use proper disposal methods. Watch for local Household Hazardous Waste Collection Days or contact the Wayne County Solid Waste Management District for drop-off info.

📍 Keep your home and community safe — do your part by disposing of chemicals the right way.

We urge parents to take steps to protect the health and safety of their infants following a surge this month of deaths caused by unsafe sleep environments.

Unsafe situations often involve co-sleeping with an adult (such as in a bed), blankets and pillows in the baby’s crib, or the baby being placed on his or her stomach to sleep.

Remember the ABCs of safe sleep:
1️⃣ Alone: Babies should be placed alone with caregiver nearby in the same room
2️⃣ Back: On his or her back
3️⃣ Crib: With only a tight-fitting sheet, no bumper pads, pillows, blankets or stuffed animals
