I understand why people ask their Personal Trainers about food.

Want to lose weight? It comes down to the food.

Want to build muscle? It comes down to the food.

So why not ask your Trainer?

The thing is, it’s not your Trainers job to coach food.

I work my tail off on getting people consistent around exercise 3 times a week. Getting people consistent with 21+ meals a week is - quite literally- someone else’s full time job.

Not to mention the specific metabolic and emotional individualization that comes along with it.

So yeah, let me count your reps and program your sets and let’s get really good at that.

Leave the fitness to the pro’s. Leave the food to the pro’s.

Today I learned that making small batch apparel is really hit or miss and it’s probably (always) worth it to find someone else to do it.

Today I also learned that making small batch apparel in front of your wife and kids is full of suggestions on what you can do better, what you just did wrong, and that you should have had someone else do it. 😱

These 3 actions may seem small, but they are the foundation to a lot of other health actions.

Water helps me feel good for workouts and improves my sleep quality.

The step count keeps me at a baseline of movement. It’s a great daily accountability piece. 10k is great, but health studies show huge benefits over 7k.

Minimizing my phone helps with everything. Literally, every aspect of my life 💃🏼.

We will find a reason to quit before we find a reason to start.

So why not focus on the start. Make it so easy you can’t say no.

For me it’s the shoes. My workout shoes have to be untied and left next to whatever I’m doing for a workout the following morning.

I fill my water bottle and put a banana next to it.

I put my gym clothes downstairs in the bathroom.

I make it so all I have to do is get up when the alarm goes off. I make it as easy as possible to start.

If you’re someone who struggles with consistency, look at the start. Look at how you begin. Chances are you need to boil it down a little bit to make it repeatable 👍.

Gyms have everything. You (most likely) can be successful with just a few things.

And being candid, most can pick one training tool and see great results with it.

Most people fall apart with the gym because they can’t stick to that one thing.

Dumbbells are fun today. Kettlebells are fun tomorrow.

By choosing one you give yourself a chance to get good at it. It cuts down the noise.

Less noise, more consistency. More consistency, more progress.
