2-Shemu - Second Month of Harvest

In the first month of Shemu, the earliest crops ripened, and the Festival of Min marked the cutting of the first grain. In this second month, the harvest continues. More fields mature. More of the year’s labor comes to fruition.

The ancient Egyptians understood that not all fields ripen at once. We follow the same rhythm in our devotional practice. Earlier in the year, we planted intentions and tended them through Peret, the season of growth. Last month we gathered our first fruits. This month invites us to make wise choices about what is ready to harvest and which of our intentions require still more care before they reach fruition.

▪ What We Ask Her Help For This Month

Each month, we offer our raised energy to Goddess Sekhmet in entreaty for Her help.

During 2-Shemu, we will celebrate Heb Nefer en Int ( 𓎛𓃀 𓄤 𓈖 𓇋𓈖𓏏𓈦 ), the Beautiful Feast of the Valley, as a festival of remembrance and ancestral care. Sekhmet, as Opener of Ways and Mistress and Lady of the Tomb, guides this work. We study ancient Egyptian teachings on death and the soul, and we raise energy to support our recently departed ancestors in their journey toward Sekhet Aaru (the Field of Reeds), where ka and ba unite as an immortal akh, becoming maat kheru, true of voice.

This month we ask Sekhmet to bring safe passage to those who have died within the past year, that they may find their way to the Field of Reeds with protection and honor.

▪ About the Sekhmet Ritual Meditation

The Sekhmet Ritual Meditation is a devotional practice of breath, movement, and offering. We work with the body’s vital fire, raising erotic energy as a somatic act of reciprocity with the Goddess. In this practice, we give the Goddess what She wants, that She may choose to give us what we need.

For those who joined Ali in workshops during Bay Area Dance Week, this ritual is a natural next step.

▪ Join Us for the May Ritual

On Thursday, May 21, we gather to raise energy for our ancestors and to harvest what has ripened in our own lives. We invite you to join us.

The Rising Cobra. A free Bay Area Dance Week class exploring the Iaret 𓆓, an embodied symbol of the Egyptian Goddess Sekhmet.

I have been invited to teach for - a Bay Area tradition that brings together diverse movement communities for ten days of free embodied exploration.

We begin with an introduction to Sekhmet and the symbols carved on Her ancient statues: the Sekhem 𓌂 (power), Ankh ☥ (life force), Udjat 𓂀 (sight and insight), Aten 𓇳 (connection to the universal), and the Iaret 𓆓, the rising cobra.

The Iaret is the creative impetus, the rising force that awakens at the s*x, undulating upward along the spine with life force. It carries erotic vitality and the spark of creativity. As the cobra rises, its subtle undulation becomes the movement where inspiration is given form.

In this guided ritual movement session, we explore the undulation of the spine, the pulse of erotic vitality, and the way creative energy ascends when given space. As we move, we let the Iaret come alive in the body, allowing its rising current to shape our authentic movement and reveal the dance that wants to emerge. From there, we explore how that movement, born from creative impulse and pleasure, can be offered back as devotion, transforming personal expression into a sacred gift to the Divine.

If you’ve been longing for a practice that weaves myth, embodiment, erotic aliveness, and devotion, this class offers a doorway into our Temple’s work with Sekhmet.

Free for Bay Area Dance Week 🗓️ May 2 ⏰ 10-11:30 AM PT 📍 Online 🔗 To register: https://dancersgroup.org/calendar/the-rising-cobra-embodying-sekhmets-creative-fire/

And if this work resonates, there is a deeper path available, one that honors symbols as living forces and supports your unfolding relationship with the Goddess. You can explore more on my website www.soulliberationservices.com.

Dancing with S*x & Spirit. A free Bay Area Dance Week class exploring the place where s*xuality and spirituality meet.

There are moments when the body whispers a truth we’ve been circling for years.

A truth about desire. A truth about devotion. A truth about the quiet place where s*x and spirit meet - not as opposites, but as two currents of the same inner fire.

I have been invited to teach for - a beloved Bay Area tradition that brings together diverse movement communities for ten days of free embodied exploration.

Many of us carry an unspoken divide between our s*xuality and our spirituality. This class doesn’t tell you what s*x or spirit should mean to you. It offers space to explore your own relationship to both, and to feel what becomes possible when they move together. Through simple somatic practices and improvisational movement, we’ll listen for the places where pleasure, presence, and devotion begin to braid together.

No experience needed, just curiosity and a willingness to move.

If you’ve built a rich, embodied life and still feel a subtle sense that something essential is missing, this class is a beautiful place to begin listening.

🕊️ Free for Bay Area Dance Week 🗓️ April 27 ⏰ 6–7 PM PT 📍 Online 🔗 To register: https://dancersgroup.org/calendar/dancing-with-s*x-and-spirit/

And if this work speaks to you, there is a deeper path available - one that weaves erotic aliveness, sovereignty, and soul level transformation. You can to explore more on my website www.soulliberationservices.com.

1 Shemu - First Month of Harvest

If you’ve been tending an intention since the start of the year, 1 Shemu asks a simple question: What is ready to harvest, and what still needs time to ripen?

▪ Season of Harvest, Month of First Cutting

In the ancient Egyptian calendar, Shemu is the season of harvest. In this first month, communities gathered for the Festival of Min (a deity of fertility), watching the pharaoh cut the first stalks of emmer on behalf of the people. It was a moment of collective gratitude: the work of many months had come to fruition, and yet not every field ripened at the same pace.

In our devotional practice, we follow this same rhythm. We look at the intentions we planted and nurtured through Peret, the season of growth. Which ones are ready to be gathered in? Which ones need more tending before they can fully mature?

▪ What We Ask Her Help For This Month

Each month, we offer our raised energy to Sekhmet for a real world concern larger than any one person can solve.

In the Khonsu Temple, Sekhmet appears in Her Sekhmet-Min form - lioness headed, female human bodied, and ithyphallic - a reminder that fierce guardianship and generative power belong together.

This month we ask Her fierce guardianship for transgender people, whose safety, dignity, and legal rights remain under threat. As lawmakers debate access to healthcare, identity documents, and public life, we ask Sekhmet to bring clarity, courage, and unwavering protection to all working for justice and safety for transgender communities.

Symbols of Sekhmet

I’m honored to be teaching a six-session journey for the .Magick Multiverse this spring, exploring the ancient symbols of Sekhmet - the foundations of a lineage of cleansing, healing, and sovereign power.

Each symbol is a doorway into a different aspect of embodied clarity:

𓇾 Tawy / The Two Lands: A place of safety, comfort and grounding.

𓌂 Sekhem / Staff of Power: Strength and the capacity to act.

𓋹 Ankh / Key of Life: Rejuvenation, purification, and life-force.

𓆓 Iaret / Cobra: Creative fire, s*xuality, and vitality.

𓂀 Udjat / Third Eye: Vision without and within.

☉ Aten / Solar Disc: Connection to the universal.

This course is part of my ongoing devotional work with Sekhmet, and introduces the embodied symbolic system I use in my temple and coaching practice.

If you’re curious about the symbols themselves - their history, their meanings, and how they function in ritual and personal transformation - you can visit the link in my bio or explore them here:

If you’ve been carrying an intention that needs one more push, 4 Peret invites renewed effort

4 Peret - Season of Growth, Month of Raising Water

In the ancient Egyptian calendar, Peret is the season of growth. Early months were for planting. By 4 Peret, the Nile floodwaters were receding, and crops needed more water than the river could naturally provide. Farmers used the shaduf (a long pole and bucket) to lift water up from the river channel to irrigate their fields. This was a month of urgent labor, when what had been planted now needed extra help to mature.

In our devotional practice, we follow this same rhythm. As they raised water to sustain their fields, we look at what our own intentions need in order to thrive. What is the extra support, the renewed effort, the final push that will help your intention come to fruition? We turn to Sekhmet to guard and guide us as we strive to grow.

▪ What We Ask Her Help For This Month

Each month, we offer our raised energy to Sekhmet for a real-world concern larger than any one person can solve. Just as a ripening harvest is vulnerable, so too are the rights of women and girls. The UN reports that women and girls hold only 64% of the legal rights of men. As the UN gathers this month to address access to justice, here in the US the Pregnant Workers Fairness Act is facing court challenges. We ask Sekhmet to bring clarity, courage, and fierce guardianship to all working to secure safety and full legal rights for women and girls.

Thursday, March 26, we gather to raise energy together, giving our intentions the focused effort they need, and offering devotion for the protection of the rights of women and girls. We invite you to join us.

If you’ve been stretched thin or pulled off center, 3-Peret invites a return to clarity - tending what you’ve planted and gently w**ding what no longer supports.

3-Peret - Season of Growth, Month of Weeding:

In the ancient Egyptian calendar, Peret is the season of growth. Farmers tended the crops that sustained daily life and temple offerings - emmer, barley, flax. Early months were for planting. By 3-Peret the work turned to w**ding.

In our devotional practice, we follow this same rhythm. As they tended their fields, we tend the intentions we’ve planted for our own inner growth. And just as they w**ded out what would choke new shoots, we look at what needs to be cleared so our growth has room to take root.

Where is your time and energy going? This month invites wise choices about what to nurture and what to gently w**d away. We turn to Sekhmet for help in this discernment.

▪ What we ask Her help for this month:

Each month, we offer our raised energy to Sekhmet for a real world concern larger than any one person can solve. This month we hold the families in Minneapolis. Even as agencies declare their actions complete, the emotional shock remains: children carrying fear that is not theirs, caregivers navigating uncertainty. We ask Sekhmet - Goddess who guards the vulnerable and stands against unjust harm - to bring courage, protection, and steadiness to the families affected, and to all working to keep their communities safe.

▪ About the Sekhmet Ritual Meditation:

The Sekhmet Ritual Meditation is a devotional practice of breath, movement, and offering. We work directly with the body’s vital fire - raising erotic energy as a somatic act of reciprocity with the Goddess. In this practice, we give the Goddess what She wants, that She may choose to give us what we need.

▪ Join us for the February Ritual:

On Thursday, February 26, we gather to raise energy together - tending what we’ve planted and offering devotion for the protection and steadiness of the Minneapolis families we hold this month. We invite you to join with us.

Our Circle of Sekhmet Devotion Returns to the Wider Community

After years of quiet tending, our monthly Sekhmet Ritual Meditations open again to all who feel called.

You may remember joining a Sekhmet Ritual Meditation at Pantheacon, SoulPlay, or other large gatherings. You may have sat with us in the monthly circles at Nevermore or Queen Hippie Gypsy in the Bay Area.

When COVID arrived, our public gatherings were suspended, and the temple shifted into a quieter rhythm. A small inner circle continued to meet every month, tending the flame and keeping the relationship with the Goddess alive.

Now, after these years of tending the hearth,
the circle returns to the wider community.

Each month, we gather for a guided ritual meditation in honor of Sekhmet — a practice that awakens the body as a living temple. Through breath, chant, visualization, and movement, we align with Her symbols and travel together into Her ancient lands.

In this space, arousal is honored as sacred devotion. The awakened erotic current of the body is welcomed as offering to the Goddess.

This is a mythic, embodied ritual practice rooted in the ancient Nubian priestess traditions of Sekhmet, and carried forward into a form that modern seekers can enter with clarity and devotion.

If you have practiced with us before — welcome back.
If you are new to this lineage — you are welcome here.
If you have been waiting for a sign that the temple doors are open again — this is it.

Details about the ritual are on our website (https://www.soulliberationservices.com/sekhmet-temple/sekhmet-ritual-meditation).
You can request Zoom access through the message form there.

The circle is alive.
The work continues.
The temple opens again.

150 Black artists. One room. Infinite power.

Displaying my art while standing in the energy of the Art of the African Diaspora opening ceremony today was a homecoming. Being surrounded by 150 fellow Black artists—a predominantly Black-held space—reminded me that my work isn’t just “art”; it is a living conduit for a lineage that has survived.

My practice revives the embodied worship of Sekhmet — lioness of healing, truth, and fierce protection — and carries forward the understanding held by Nubian priestesses that the erotic and the divine are one. The mirror, the menat, and the wand that I created are inspired by ancient forms, but they are meant to be lived.

In my temple community, we are restoring the ancient union of sacred power and erotic creative force — cultivating a space where the body is holy, desire is honored as a path of liberation, and s*x-magic is ritual in offering to the Goddess.

If this stirs recognition or longing, we hope you’ll join us in tending this living practice. I look forward to seeing who the Lioness calls.
