**Exciting Announcement**

Ashland, VA, 9/7/2025 – Linebird, a Virginia-based company enabling drones to perform work on energized power lines, has been chosen to join the 35 Mules innovation hub, operated by Florida Power & Light Company.

“This opportunity puts Linebird at the forefront of powerline innovation,” said Michael Beiro, CEO of Linebird. “We’re proud to represent Virginia and connect with subject matter experts.”

Out of 172 global applicants, Linebird is one of eight companies selected for the 15-month program. Participation gives the company access to industry mentorship, entrepreneurial and leadership coaching, and exposure to Fortune 500 experts as it scales operations.

“We are thrilled to welcome our fourth cohort of entrepreneurs into the 35 Mules family,” said Danielle Mousseau, Director of Economic Development, 35 Mules. “Each of these companies represents the bold, innovative spirit that 35 Mules is built to support. We are committed to empowering their growth while they develop transformative solutions that will benefit industries and the Florida business ecosystem."

About Linebird: Emerging from independent student research supported by a Fortune 500 power utility, Linebird was originally developed to answer a simple question: can drones be used by utilities not just as eyes in the skies, but to perform contact testing and measurement of live infrastructure? Once the core technology was proven, the founding team of utility, drone and robotics experts realized the full potential extended into many other areas of line work such as storm restoration, debris mitigation, switchgear cleaning/lubrication and ground-to-tower supply transportation.

Linebird has landed in Australia!

Linebird has officially made it to Australia as part of the Electrons Program – a global energy innovation accelerator connecting cutting-edge companies with some of the world’s leading utilities. We are bringing Linebird’s aerial live-line work technology to a new continent. Australia’s unique grid challenges and forward-thinking utilities make it an ideal place to expand our mission of improving safety, efficiency, and access in powerline maintenance and inspection.

While our team is down Under, Lee Corbin will be stateside at XPONENTIAL in this week – connecting with industry leaders and talking about our latest advances for utility operations. Whether Houston or Australia – the future of live-line work is here, and it’s flying.

Our team is extremely proud to announce we've completed our first successful high-voltage inspections on live power transmission lines! Check out the full story and video of this historic flight on our website: https://linebird.net/linebird-proves-their-systems-capabilities-on-real-world-transmission-infrastructure/

Linebird’s team is excited to announce that on October 28, 2020, they performed a successful test of their patent-pending UAS payload system with the Sensorlink Ohmstik on a live 115kV transmission structure in Virginia. While they had already proven the Linebird system was capable in a controlled...

What do we do?

We are working to transform the way power transmission infrastructure is inspected and maintained, expanding the capabilities of unmanned systems to take work that was once costly and life-threatening and do it quickly, cheaply, and remotely with the power of automation. We are currently building a prototype to demonstrate that unmanned systems can bring lineman tools in contact with live transmission lines through a patent-pending process. We will then license to contractors who can easily deploy that process with equipment they already own and use for camera and infrared inspections. With revenues from that, we will work to expand unmanned systems' abilities to serve and maintain electrical infrastructure.
Utilities are slow to innovate. As long as the lights stay on and the water keeps flowing, there is little need to disrupt the status quo of how resources get to consumers. There isn't any competition pushing companies to find more efficient ways to use customers' money. That is true even as linemen have one of the 10 most dangerous jobs in the U.S. (https://www.usatoday.com/story/money/2019/01/08/most-dangerous-jobs-us-where-fatal-injuries-happen-most-often/38832907/) with around 20 fatal workplace injuries per 100,000 workers every year.
The conservative approach the industry has taken towards technological innovation means many of the cost, time, and life savings possible with automation have yet to be exploited. That is the opportunity Beirobotics is built to seize on. Once we have demonstrated unmanned systems are hundreds of times safer, faster, and more affordable than the status quo of line work, utilities will move to implement our solutions, resulting in savings reinvested in critical infrastructure and cheaper electricity for consumers.

To determine the 25 most dangerous jobs, 24/7 Wall St. reviewed fatal injury rates for 72 occupations from the Bureau of Labor Statistics’ Census of Fatal Occupational Injuries.
