❄️ Ice on the Ground = Injuries in the Office ❄️
When temperatures drop, we see a predictable spike in injuries—and no, it’s not a coincidence.
The most common cold-weather injuries we treat include:
Ankle sprains and fractures from sudden twisting on ice
Tibial, fibular, and ankle fractures from slips and hard falls
Wrist, hand, and forearm fractures from instinctively bracing during a fall
Knee, hip, and shoulder injuries from direct impact.
Ice turns a normal step into a biomechanical nightmare!
🧊 How to reduce your risk:
✔️ Wear shoes with good tread (fashion boots = orthopedic regret)
✔️ Walk slowly and deliberately—short steps, flat feet
✔️ Keep your hands out of your pockets to help with balance
✔️ Use handrails whenever possible
✔️ Avoid carrying heavy or bulky items that throw off your center of gravity
✔️ When in doubt, assume every shiny surface is ice
Falls are not “just accidents”—they’re preventable injuries with potentially long recoveries.
If you do slip, twist, or fall and notice persistent pain, swelling, or difficulty bearing weight, get evaluated early. Waiting it out often makes things worse (and more expensive).
Stay upright. Stay warm. And respect the ice. 🧊👣
