We are so proud to celebrate one of our own! On Friday, May 8, Kathryn Holloway, M.D., will deliver the keynote address at the VCU School of Medicine's 2026 graduation ceremonies.

Over more than 40 years at VCU, Dr. Holloway has devoted herself to clinical innovation, research and mentorship, shaping the careers of countless students, residents and fellows. We are deeply grateful for the lasting legacy she has built here.

VCU Neurosurgery is proud to be ranked among the top 50 neurosurgery programs in the nation for NIH research funding, according to the latest Blue Ridge Institute for Medical Research report.

Across VCU, 23 health sciences schools and departments also rank in the top 50 nationally, highlighting the university’s strong research momentum.

With $568 million in sponsored research funding in FY2025, VCU continues to advance discoveries that improve care and strengthen communities.

We’re proud to recognize Dr. Holloway’s extraordinary service to our nation’s veterans through the Richmond VA, where she dedicated nearly four decades as a neurosurgeon caring for those who served.
