Cervical Cancer Facts #23: Things you can do to help Prevent Cervical Cancer:
1.HPV vaccine- Children beginning at age 9, women and men under age 26 are the key ages for the vaccine.
2. ALWAYS wear a condom. Although the virus is transmitted via skin-to-skin contact, some protection is better than none.
3.ALWAYS use condoms during oral s*x. As the numbers of HPV related Oral, throat, and head/neck cancers rise exponentially, it is essential to provide yourself protection against HPV protection here as well.
4. Minimize s*xual partners.
5. Monitor long-term use of oral contraception.
6. Know your risk factors.
7. Know the symptoms.
8. MOST IMPORTANT...Maintain your regular check-ups!

As we head into the final 10 days of the month, I am going to ask your help once again. From Jan 1, this page has reached 3402 people. When I set out, I established a goal of reaching 5000 people this month. I will need your help if this is to happen. Please, if you see one of my posts about HPV and/or cervical cancer, share them on your page and then ask that your friends do the same. Together, we can reach the numbers of people for whom this may be their only source of information about this disease and in doing so, you may very well be helping to save their life or the life of someone that they will share the info with. However, if the information stalls, then the disease continues to wreak havoc and devastation on the lives of hundreds of thousands around the world. Together, we can change that! Thank you so much for all you have done and continue to do to make this page a success.

Cervical Cancer Awareness Facts #21: How do you get HPV?
How do you get HPV?
HPV is easily spread from s*xual skin-to-skin contact with someone who has it. It IS NOT SPREAD BY BODILY FLUID! You get it when your v***a, va**na, cervix, p***s, or a**s comes in contact with someone else’s ge****ls, mouth, or throat — usually during s*x. HPV can be spread without ej*******on. I can be spread even if there is no va**nal, a**l, or oral penetration/intercourse. This is why PREVENTION via HPV VACCINE is the best protection!

Cervical Cancer Awareness #20 (since I forgot). Le****ns and bis*xual women ARE at risk of cervical cancer and yet are less likely to be screened., This may be due to fear of discrimination, bad experiences with doctors in the past, and misinformation about cervical cancer.

Cervical Cancer Awareness Fact # 19: Worldwide, cervical cancer is the third most common cancer among women and the second most frequent cause of cancer-related death, accounting for nearly 300,000 deaths annually. In developing nations, it is often the most common cause of cancer-related death among women and a leading cause of death overall.

Cervical Cancer Awareness Month Fact #18: Cervical cancer tends to occur in midlife and is most frequently diagnosed in women between the ages of 35 and 44. It rarely develops in women younger than 20.(Rarely DOES NOT MEAN NEVER!) Many older women do not realize that the risk of developing cervical cancer is still present as they age. More than 15% of cases of cervical cancer are found in women over 65 .

I hope everyone around the world is doing well this morning. Mine is off to a /wonderful/ start. Began with a 4am ostomy alarm. Was then followed with an episode involving my bp where it dropped to the point of vomiting and nearly passing out in the bathroom. But, hey...my bp is completely normal. (At least as far as the nurse at my FORMER doctor's office is concerned.) I will be placing one final call to this location when they open and if this doctor is not prepared to do something about this bp...I will NEVER return. And, I have been going there for nearly 30 years.
So..what's up with all of you this fine wintry morning? (or summer-depending on where you are) :)
