As we awaken, and begin the stir of our daily routines, I pray that we count our many blessings, and never lose our spirit of gratitude. The somber reminders of our countrymen will be everywhere, today, and not a moment will pass, without remembrance of those citizens who awoke to that beautiful, yet fateful September, Tuesday morning.
This morning, I pray the same prayer from each year before:
May we always be graced with, and protected by the heroic sacrifices of the First Responders, who braved the floods of chaos, charged into the smoke filled, fiery hell to aid their brothers and sisters, and whom never made it home to the dinner table, ever again.
May we always be indebted to those brave men and women, who immediately answered the call, and brought the blood and loss of their countrymen into battle, without hesitation or self preservation.
For, it is to these men and women, whom we honor, celebrate, and never forget.
Today, Grandpa's flag flies as high as my little flagpole allows. I am thankful to be blessed with the honor of keeping and bearing his flag. Every time it is unfurled, I feel his strength, his bravery, his patriotism, and his pride. It is a reminder of a love of his fellow Americans, and an unwavering spirit that will never be conquered.
May we always remember. May we always honor. May we always be grateful. God bless the United States of America. God bless her people. God Bless her Servicemen and Servicewomen. God bless her First Responders. God bless my Family. God bless Texas.
