Men can get breast cancer too.

💙 October 19–25 is Male Breast Cancer Awareness Week. 💙

For a man, the average lifetime risk of breast cancer is approximately 1 in 726, according to our friends at the Male Breast Cancer Global Alliance.

Before his own diagnosis in 2016, ABCD Mentor Kurt says he was “one of those men that did not know that men could get breast cancer.”

He understands many men don’t want to be in the spotlight, but it’s important to be willing to talk about it. “You can’t let your ego get in the way,” says Kurt. “It’s not about protecting your masculinity. It’s about protecting your life.” 💬

The National Patient Advocate Foundation (NPAF) is looking for volunteers/community residents to share their experiences to make sure the patient voice is heard.

If you buy your health insurance from the Marketplace -- whether it's healthcare.gov or your state's program -- the NPAF would like to hear from you.

In particular, writers are looking for to feature people who are worried that they may lose their subsidies, leaving their insurance unaffordable.
