Overnight Lead Kate went above and beyond to make sure our whole team could sharpen their skills! 🐾 She led a comprehensive restraint training, breaking it into multiple sessions so every team member had the chance to attend and practice hands-on.

Proper restraint is one of the most important skills in veterinary medicine—it keeps our patients safe, minimizes stress, and protects our team from injury. By working together to master safe handling techniques, we can provide the best care possible for every pet that comes through our doors, no matter the situation.

After 7 days in the hospital, Tanner is finally headed home! He’s been such a sweet, brave boy during his stay with us, and we’re going to miss those snuggles. Wishing you the happiest homecoming, Tanner!

🚨 Emergency Case Spotlight: Max 🚨
Max came to see us at AAC Emergency on Sunday after a few days of not feeling well—he was lethargic and vomiting, and his family knew something wasn’t right. After taking abdominal x-rays, we discovered a linear foreign body obstruction—a very serious and urgent condition.

Our team acted quickly, and Max was taken into surgery not long after he arrived. It was a tough procedure, but we were able to successfully remove the obstruction and help Max start feeling like himself again. 💛

He went home today, and while we’re so glad he’s back with his family, we already miss this sweet, brave boy! 💕

We’re sending a huge congratulations and an even bigger farewell hug to Payton as she begins her next chapter—veterinary school at Auburn University! 🐾🎓

Payton has been an incredible part of our Advanced Animal Care family, and we are beyond proud to see her take this next step toward her dream of becoming a veterinarian. 💙

She is also this year’s recipient of the Emma Spurlock Scholarship, a $2,500 award given to an AAC team member accepted to Auburn’s vet program. This scholarship was created in memory of Emma Spurlock, a beloved former employee who tragically passed away just weeks before starting her own journey at Auburn. Emma’s passion for animals and bright spirit continue to inspire us, and we know she would be so proud to see Payton carry the torch.

Our Story

In the 1950’s our founder Jim Martin was just a child. One day he found a dog that had been hit by a car and he wanted to save it but he didn’t know how. There was no veterinarian to call in his poverty stricken coal mining town. It was in that moment that he knew when grew up he was going to become a veterinarian. He knew even as a child that he wanted to be the one that people could call day or night to save an animals life.

Martin was the first Berea College graduate to be accepted into Auburn College of Veterinary Medicine.

In 1973 a first generation college graduate became Dr. Jim Martin, and was one of only three in his class to open his own hospital. His dream was to make sure no one ever had to see an animal suffer because there was no one to call.
