Children's Hospital of Richmond at VCU is a full-service children's hospital and the first Level 1 pediatric trauma center in the Commonwealth. We provide pediatric inpatient and outpatient care that covers nearly all children's health-related needs - from primary care and emergency medicine to bone marrow transplants and heart surgery. A tiny device offers a minimally invasive solution for even the smallest patients in the treatment of PDA - or patent ductus arteriosus – a condition which can be problematic and make breathing difficult.

Nearly half of premature infants born between 22 and 23 weeks are born with a condition called patent ductus arteriosus that doesn’t allow them to breathe on their own. Until recently, medications and surgery were the only treatment options.

It might not be the primetime show where aspiring entrepreneurs are trying to make millions, but CHoR's QI (quality-improvement) Shark Tank is a meeting of the minds where future pediatricians learn from each other and help enhance the patient experience in the process.

QI (quality-improvement) Shark Tank, which started here in 2018, is a forum where residents, fellows and even faculty can share QI projects that are in the works and get feedback.
