March is Social Work Month, and we’d like to introduce you to Kentucky Dialysis Social Worker Chris, MSSW, CSW. A 12-year employee, Chris says DCI’s focus on putting patients first has made a huge difference in her career and her mindset. She appreciates DCI’s lower social-worker-to-patient ratio compared to other dialysis providers, which makes her caseload manageable to provide more personalized care.
“We spend quality, individualized time with patients, addressing not just their medical needs, but also their mental health and social concerns.” For Chris and all DCI social workers, this holistic approach allows them to build better relationships with and identify early signs of challenges for patients. At the end of the day, Chris wants to make each patient’s experience unique and give them the best outcome possible.
Her favorite quote is “to bring about change, you must not be afraid to take the first step” from Rosa Parks, and she puts this into practice each day, finding unique ways to help her patients progress in the dialysis journey.
Chris enjoys photography, spending time with her two sons and her dog Lili and cheering on the Kentucky Wildcats basketball team.
Thank you, Chris, for your contributions to DCI and your positive impact on our patients. Happy Social Work Month!
