Hello Doll! Thanks for stopping by! My name is Kay, the one who is always posting about this Sugar stuff! But what exactly is Sugaring you may ask?! Is it for everyone?! Does it hurt?! Great questions! And rest assured, I am here to help!
-Lets start from the very beginning! Sugaring is a Hair Removal treatment that has been practiced for centuries throughout the Middle East, Greece & Northern Africa. Sugar is a gel-like paste made from 3 ingredients: Sugar, Lemon Juice & Water. It is by far one of the most gentle, effective & natural hair removal techniques. Sugaring does not require strips, it is done using gloved hands. Sugar does not stick to skin but only to the hair. Therefore, it really gets the hair out of the roots, So rather than a wax that adheres to your skin and pulls your skin when you are removing the hair, sugar just binds to your hair and only pulls the hair. It is applied at body temperature and will not burn the skin. You will notice as your hair grows back, it will be softer and finer. Less hair will grow back, Even after the First treatment. Keep in mind, Sugaring is a Process, it may take a few sugaring sessions before your hair is completely removed. This does NOT mean that you will still have hair after the first treatment, this Simply means that Sometimes it may take a couple treatments for stubborn hairs or SMALL patches. However, a trained sugar practitioner will be able to tweeze or thread to target any stubborn hairs.
Sugaring is a natural exfoliant, which leaves your skin super soft! In between appointments however, it is important to exfoliate to remove dead skin cells so the hair does not get trapped underneath when growing. This could cause ingrown hair. Immediately after sugaring, we recommend avoiding hot water, gym activity, suanas, pools, tanning, etc for 24 hours. As your pores are open and could potentially be accessible to dirt/bacteria.
But does it hurt?! Is everyones first question! Sugaring is not completely painless, I mean come on, you’re still pulling hair out! But it is not terrible either. The first treatment is always the hardest because the hair is course and possibly stubborn. So it takes some work! By the 3rd treatment, sugaring can actually be quite relaxing! So take a deep breath & don’t have fear!
