"There comes a time when you have to choose between turning the page and closing the book."
If you started reading this, please don't stop. Please don't pass judgement until you've tried to put everything in perspective.
We have made the incredible difficult decision to close Cornerstone Family Pharmacy effective at the end of business on April 9th, 2025.
We realize that this will come as a shock to many of you and apologize that we could not divulge any sooner. Things have been very complicated to say the least, but we will be available to answer any questions you may have.
It has always been a dream of mine to own my own pharmacy. I dreamed of this opportunity to help my community. I wanted to make a difference in any way possible.
When we opened Cornerstone Family Pharmacy, it was like a life's worth of dreaming come true. The long days and sleepless nights that we put into making that dream come true was worth it all to be able to serve our community.
The last 3 years it has been my greatest honor fulfill my dream to serve the members of our community ensuring they have easy access to a pharmacy.
Unfortunately, things have changed since we first embarked on this journey. The dynamic of the entire pharmacy industry has changed immensely. Reimbursements have continued to get worse, more patients choose mail-order and online pharmacies, and, as always, costs continually increase.
This is not a decision that we have made easily. It has been a great struggle to know that the dream that once was will be no more and that our closing will negatively impact the local economy and community as a whole. Never did I ever think that we would be in this position.
Please bear with us these next several days as we go through this transition of closing. Please note the following regarding the closing:
1. As of close of business, April 9th, 2025. Cornerstone Family Pharmacy will no longer be providing services. Up until then, we will be conducting business 100% as normal.
2. Any prescriptions that are currently in progress and those that are needed can continue to be filled as normal until April 9th, 2025.
3. At close of business on April 9th, 2025, all remaining prescriptions will be reversed and placed back on patient profiles
4. All remaining prescription records and data will be transferred to CVS Pharmacy, 700 Northside Drive, Summersville, WV, 26651
5. After the closure, any prescriptions can be filled and picked up at CVS or transferred to another pharmacy of your choosing.
6. Ian and Melanie have both been offered jobs at CVS Pharmacy and will continue to serve our customers along with the other current employees at CVS. Their staff is wonderful and is headed by Kerry Stitzinger that worked in Richwood until the closure of Walgreens. She and Ian will be partners once again!
7. We will do our very best to make this transition painless. Though there will be hiccups in the process, we will make sure our customers are still taken care of.
8. Most importantly of all, we want to thank our loyal customers that have supported us and continue to do so. We appreciate each and every one of you and will miss serving you as Cornerstone Family Pharmacy. I am so sorry things had to end this way.
Sincerely,
Ian Gladwell, Owner/Pharmacist in Charge
