My revelation to birthing matters all started when taking Bradley classes in Portland, OR in 1999. Deciding to teach Bradley classes instead of working 12 hour shifts as an RN in the hospital was a great decision for my family. I have been teaching Bradley© classes since 2002 in Sarasota, Florida. Hundreds of couples have come through my classes in that time. I am also certified as a doula through
The Bradley Method and have attended 200 births. Since 2009, I have been offering doula services for home, birthing center, and hospital births. I feel honored to be part of the process by informing, advocating, and attending to the expectant and laboring woman. A doula is the best gift an expectant father can give himself!! There is an experienced professional working alongside you & your partner. You are supported along the journey, from preparatory childbirth classes, each contraction of your labor, to postpartum recovery. A team player looking to the best interests of your family as well as desires and needs for this process of birth. Studies have shown (Cochrane review) that when doulas attend birth, labors are shorter with fewer complications, babies are healthier, and they breastfeed more easily. My statistics over the years show that 90% of my clients go into labor on their own and there is a 50% decrease in the Cesarean rate for doula attended birth.
