On International Women's Day, we take a moment to celebrate and honor our profession founded by women. Physical Therapy has a rich history in America including its essential contribution in helping people recover from polio to providing care to soldiers returning from WWI.

APTA was founded by women to support a profession established by women. On we salute our foremothers & generations of healers, educators, researchers, game-changers, & leaders they inspired.

Thought of the week: Cosmetic surgery. What to consider beyond the cosmetics💄? What muscles will this affect? How will the scar tissue affect my movement? Long term consequences? Does anyone have any thoughts?

Let's talk about foods that irritate your bladder. Certain foods will increase the acidity of your urine, which can play into a need to use the restroom before your bladder is actually fully ready to be emptied. Some of the top suspects on this list are:
🧐 alcohol🍷
🧐coffee ☕️
🧐carbonated drinks (yes, sparkling water counts)🥤
🧐 and even some fruits🍇

If you are feeling as though you have to rush to the bathroom to avoid an accident, pelvic floor physical therapy, in combination with reducing how many bladder irritating foods and drinks you eat, can help you work towards making it to the bathroom on time. 😎

April is C-section awareness month! 🤩

C-sections are a major abdominal surgery, and can have long lasting effects on how women are able to move and use their abdominal muscles.

Here are some ways that a great Pelvic Floor Physical Therapist can support you in recovery from a c-section (even years after the c-section):
🌟Mobilize scar tissue
🌟Help you learn how to engage your abdominal muscles again
🌟Help you manage any pelvic floor dysfunction that may be occurring (leaking urine, having pain with sitting or intimacy, or just difficulty going to the bathroom in general)

If you are experiencing any of these symptoms and feel that you may benefit from Physical Therapy, call us and we can help you figure out if PT is a great option for you! 760-384-4441.

It's squat day!! My absolute favorite exercise. In all seriousness, it actually is my favorite, because it shows so many areas of the body working together. You can see that if I had worked on my mid back position just a pinch more, this squat would have felt amazing! It's okay to need an extra set of eyes! In fact, that is what PT's are here for, we are movement experts!--Dr. Cathy
