Hi! Let's do a quick check-in like I do with all new families. I'm Jennifer Fisher, a birth, postpartum & bereavement doula. Caring for new families is my love!

My story starts 21 years ago in Baby & Me group, when they did a call for volunteers. I turned a into a career. From supporting new parents with breastfeeding to becoming a childbirth educator, unbiased education has been my top priority.

Doula work became the next logical step while raising 3 kids. I am a Cappa certified labor & birth doula. My specialization in bereavement, with my certification from Stillbirthday, occurred after a tragic loss where I wondered, "who's taking care of the parents on their worst day?" That became me.

Supporting new families, no matter how that looks to you, is my priority. Helping you feel confident, safe, and prepared for this transition to parenting is my goal. Where do you want or need support? Is it birth or postpartum or both? There is no situation to big or small that we can not discuss & come up with solutions for. Let's meet and find answers for your next chapter.

When I'm not working, I garden on my three acres, run, hike & drink copious amounts of coffee & tea. You'll see highlights here, I'm an open book & happy to share life.

We were just discussing this in tonight. The evidence DOES NOT suggest a reduction in & DOES suggest higher rates.

YOU decide if an is right for you. Outside of medical necessity, waiting, or expectant management, seems to be just as beneficial.

Summer births equals summer bouquets!

Welcome sweet baby boy! Your momma was so brave! She faced her fears. Her providers had the backups in place. You are so loved.

Memories from prior births absolutely influence our subsequent pregnancies and birth. Let's walk through that dread, trepidation, and anticipation together.

Doulas hold your anxiety. Doulas remind you that your courage is larger than your fear. Doulas support your partners' worry, too.

Create your team to lend you their confidence while you meet your baby.

You can talk about this. There is no shame to not loving your previous birth. Let's create space to help this next birth be a gentle joy.

Have you met Naomi O'Callaghan from ? We sat down next to each other in Biology 10 years ago. She became an amazing midwife & I became a doula.
She's created a talented, incredibly educated & well respected midwifery team here in Vancouver. She is one of my go-to's for clients seeking a home birth. Feeling like this is your vision for your next birth? Look them up!

Sometimes, postpartum doula care looks like new tattoos and an occupied four year old.
Sometimes, it's collecting pine cones, as many that could fit in the bag. And emptying that bag over and over.

I still managed to get the dishes & laundry done while mom nursed the baby. Then we swapped, and I held the baby while the played with the older babies. Egg bites are for whoever needs a dose of protein.

You need the extra hands. Schedule care for you! Running yourself into the ground isn't motherhood it's self sabotage.

Hello baby!!

This year, there has been a flock of spontaneous labors, and they seem faster? I'm not calculating lengths of labor. My sample size is too small. But the ramp-up, or , is happening while parents are doing normal life, not waiting (and getting impatient) in hospital rooms.

It makes a difference when it feels like everything is working, instead of "when will this start?! or why isn't this working?"

Talk about the benefits & risks of inductions with your provider. Is it medically necessary or the convenience of knowing when pregnancy ends? Is this your desire or your providers preference? YOU ultimately make the decision here.

❓️ What are your expectations of an induction?
❓️What are the policies for eating during the process?
❓️What about taking a break if contractions are not increasing with pitocin use?

Check out Evidence Based Birth for more research on inductions, alternatives to inductions, and reviews on the Arrival Trial

🤍 a shout out to nurse Heather at who compassionately supported me as I worked. This hospital has a very personal meaning to me & I'm so glad I got to be there for a joyful birth 🤍

Are you going to poo while pushing??!!
Yup, probably!

But what if you don't share the bathroom or even toot infront of your partner?

You should start.

Because I don't want you to be inhibited while pushing your baby out!!

And anyone who does this for a living knows it's a REALLY GOOD SIGN that baby is moving down the birth canal.

My client commented that he felt really calm about the his baby's birth. And I said to him "that's why I do this job!"

isn't easy for family and friends. Being my best between 3-4am is tough. But helping a parent feel confident in birth *makes* this career soo satisfying.

It's an absolute privilege to join you

What's my job as your doula?

To hold Hope & Joy for you.

In anticipation of this baby sticking, that the birth unfolds as you want, that the NICU stay is short, that the postpartum moods level out, that you find yourself in this new role and feel contentment.

And I can only do that because others held it for me until I could feel it.

It's a privilege 💜

What's for dinner?
What's for breakfast?

With a new baby this is the Worst Question Ever! (right after "is the baby sleeping through the night?")

If you haven't considered a , it's time! One of my favorite things to do is prepare meals for my clients.

Settling you in after birth is going to set you up for a calmer recovery. Knowing help is coming calms anxiety. Restorative sleep heals your body. This isn't a luxury, your mental health care is necessary. Message me

How to Survive Parenthood:
Have an amazing group of people who will
A) not judge
B) laugh at the insanity of it all
C) love you like no others will
D) GO ON VACATION WITHOUT KIDS

Seriously. You give and give. You need to tap out. You need adult only conversation and NOT to look at the to-do list for a weekend.

Find a friend or two and get going!! I adore running, coffee and conversations at 2am. provides the perfect, beautiful backdrop every year.

In our van this year we had 5 moms, one dad and 24 kids combined!! I have not laughed more in a longggg time.

Go Play. I'll help you plan it!!

Our Story

Courage for all birth outcomes, my motto, came from learning that supporting birthing families means, all families, all births. Even ones that don’t go as planned, or have an outcome that no one could have predicted. It is my goal to offer doula care to any family that needs it. When we feel supported, growth happens.
